Accessing Android phones on CentOS 7
Hi, My standard Linux desktop is based on a personal blend of CentOS 7 with KDE 4.14 and various add-ons from third-party repositories like EPEL and Nux-Dextop. After a brief stint on OpenSUSE Leap 15.0, this is what I use on my workstation and on my laptop. And this is also what I install on my client's machines, just like I did in our local school's computer room. I'm currently

Nux VLC gives CLI only on CentOS-6.x
I thought this was just because of various unwise repo mixing that I'd done on my main home server-cum-workstation, but I've been able to duplicate it on a fresh VirtualBox installation. I install the nux repo vlc-core and vlc-extras. I then try to start it from a command line. I get +++++++ main interface error: no suitable interface module [0x1ae5108] main libvlc error: interface

RDP for Centos 7
Hi, Does anyone know of a good program for doing RDP to windows servers on C-7? The "Remote desktop viewer" program that comes with C7 is not reliable for me. I frequently have multiple long running RDP sessions and the keyboard will stop responding. The only way I can find to get it started again is to restart the program and login to the servers again. In addition, I cannot find a

movie player vs. mp3
I have movie player installed on centos 6. When I try to play an mp3 file, it complains about the lack of a codec, mpeg-1 something 3. google hasn't helped. What package do I need? Trying to install ffmpeg gets me a no such package message. I've dealt with codec issues before. Mostly what I remember is that before I was done, I wanted to kill something. -- Michael hennebry at

flac/sox/etc with mp3 support?
I need to convert a bunch of .flac files to .mp3 files, but the sox and flac command tools thats in the base repo won't do that. EPEL doesn't seem to have much either. I went looking at ATRPMS but am getting database errors from their home page :( I know rpmforge used to have this stuff, but its virtually unmaintained today so I've written it off. any suggestions? C6 compatible wireless printers?
Hi, Any success stories with C6 and wireless printers? Or maybe horror stories and what products to avoid? I'm looking at some HPs on amazon right now, some quite cheap, ~ ?50, not bad. Ideally they should have easy to refill cartridges. Thanks.

More browsers!
I'm running CentOS 6 on one machine, plus my wife's. She's OK with it, but every time I use it, I miss the glorious plethora of browsers that Fedora has gotten me used to. I have epel and rpmfusion (both free and unfree) enabled; is there some other repo I can safely add? -- Beartooth Implacable, Curmudgeonly Codger Learning Linux On the Internet, you can never tell who

How to install libquicktime on CentOS 7 in one (or two) line of command?
Hi, For some reason, I need support of QuickTime on my CentOS 7. So I searched the internet and found that something called "|libquicktime|" can provide that support. So I download the rpm file from http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libquicktime%28x86-64%29. Then I ran command "|rpm -i libquicktime-1.2.4-31.el7.x86_64.rpm|" and got the following errors:
