Attaching effects during onload
I''m trying to attach effects to elements in my onload handler and my lack of Javascript-fu is showing... I want to call the effect from the onclick handler of an anchor inside the div I want the effect to apply to. Here''s what I''m trying to do: function doOnLoad() { var filters = document.getElementsByName(''filter''); for

Tweaks of Array.prototype
Hi all, I encountered a big problem when trying to use Scriptaculous and Htmlarea in the same page. The Htmlarea code uses a lot of "for (var i in array_variable)" to iterate on array elements. Problem is that prototype.js augments Array.prototype, which then show up in the iteration, severely breaking htmlarea. The easy workaround is for sure to use "for (var i = 0; i <

Java with Scriptaculous
I know that the prototype library was paired with Rails but I''m curious if anyone has used the ajax part (of the libraries) with java servlets? If so could you please point me to some examples or documentation. Cheers, Marty

Converting text into a javascript array
Hey Guys, I know this isn''t specific to scriptaculous libraries but it''s something that I''m exploring as I use the ajax functions in prototype. My application server is not rails but java and I was thinking of returning a javascript array in the ajax response. When I get back my response is it, of course, text and I''m not sure how best to convert it into

Prototype lib : for-each loops and DontEnum
All I realise that this isn''t strictly the correct place to discuss the prototype lib but being as scriptaculous is dependent on it I thought people might have some opinions. Easier to explain with the example below, copy into a html file and ensure the path to prototype.js is correct. You''ll see the first example prints an extra element "extend" when iterating over

BlindDown recommendations?
Hi folks, I''m putting together a site that will have a shopping cart tab along the top which, when clicked, slides down to reveal the full contents of the cart (covering the page underneath it). When designing it and getting the styling right, I had the page display the cart fully open by default. This worked fine - the cart can close and open any number of times without problem[1].

Element.show - element.style.display=''''
All Head up. I found that when I had a hidden DIV (using css - display: none) which I wanted to Effect.Appear on some event (although the underlying problem seems to be with Element.show()), I had to make an amendment to the underlying prototype.js code by changing : element.style.display = '''' -> element.style.display = ''block''; I think the problem was

table sorting/manipulation library?
I have a library I''ve developed that I believe is the most flexible and useful table sorting/striping/row-selecting library around. Big features: Single and multiple-level sort Arbitrary sort criteria (IP address, date, etc.) Works with table headers that are > 1 row or column large Stripe tables and/or enable row selecting Row selecting supports drag-select and SHIFT-click No extra

DOM events not firing in IE6 with floated divs
Hi All Not strictly Scriptaculous but I came across this whilst trying to implement some Scriptaculous code. I am hoping some XHTML guru out there might be able to shed some light. If you load up the attached file in IE6, you''ll see the events only fire in the middle section of the title bar when your over the border ! - FF1.5 is fine.. Any thoughts / comments appreciated.. Cheers

Element.getDimensions() support for IE?
Hey all, I''m not sure if IE can support this, but I''m trying to get the dimensions of an element that has percentages for height/width. In the example code below, I''m trying to get the dimensions for the ''MyCell'' element. Firefox supports Element.getDimensions(''MyCell''), but IE returns 0 for the height & width returned by that

Adding a AD Group to a Unix user account
Hi Guys, First of all I can do the following: "usermod -g GID bobby" and it adds the group to the user account fine (GID being the actual number value not the name). but if i don't use -g it fails to work, I want to ADD the group "Domain Users" to "bobbys" account, so I tried: "usermod -a -G GID bobby" but it doesnt not appear to do anything...

read.csv.sql() to select from a large csv file
Dear list,   Dear list, I am using read.csv.sql() from the sqldf package to read individual-based data from a csv file that is too large for R. My original file contains a column called “ID” that identifies the individual. I would like to read in data for only one individual at a time, for example "Bobby". read.csv.sql("filename",sql = 'select * from file where ID =

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] Linux support for compiler-rt's BlocksRuntime
I've reattached the patch to runtime.c, this time as output from svn instead of git. As the original git commit noted, it does the following: define OSAtomicCompareAndSwap(Long|Int) for non-Mac/Win32 systems if neither TARGET_OS_MAC or TARGET_OS_WINDOWS are defined, check to see if GCC atomic built-ins are available (and use them if they are). yours, Bobby On Sat, Sep 12, 2009 at 3:24 AM,

Using Huge Pages for R
Hi all, My application usually works on huge amounts of data in the size of MB's .So the performance of "R" in this case will increase if Huge pages are used instead of malloc'ing (as in memory.c) . So Are there any methods to support Huge Pages in "R" ? Can any one give some inputs to help me implementing this feature? [[alternative HTML version deleted]]
