Network issue after new kernel install
Hello CentOS list,
On all of my CentOS 5 VMWare ESX3 virtual machines (about 15), after
installing a new kernel and rebooting the machine, the Network script
tries to run dhclient and can't determine the IP info (since I don't run
a dhcpd server... it's a static IP only lan). This also backs up my
ifcfg-eth0 file to ifcfg-eth0.bak and writes a new ifcfg-eth0 that has
dhcpd with

Postfix dying
Hello list,
Postfix is dying on one of my servers almost nightly. This system is
running CentOS5 with postfix-2.3.3-2.
In the morning (after noticing it died) I try to run `service postfix
stop` and I get a failed start. Running `ps ax | grep postfix` I can
see one process still running for postfix. After killing this, I am
able to run `service postfix start`.
I see a lot of this in my

Does CentOS has problems with Norton Ghost 2003 images?
Hello all
We have two very important workstations dedicated to tasks of
development and investigation. At the moment we have installed a dual
boot platform with CentOS 4.0 and Windows XP Proffessional SP2. In
order to do backups of these machines we need to create an image with
Norton Ghost 2003.
We have worked with Ghost during several years with different
platforms (Red Hat, White Box Linux,

Yeah, we potentially can add some kind of option: "llvm-symbolizer
-print-short-function-names", I don't yet see why this would be valuable.

[LLVMdev] DWARF unmangled subprog name (DW_AT_name)
The use case is getting the short name for backtraces. There are other
options, but I figured it was worth a shot trying to access from the DWARF
structure because what we need is already stored there anyway.

How to convert numbers to words?
I am trying to convert numbers to English words, e.g. 123 -> One
hundred twenty three. After some searching, I have been unable to
find any info on this. I could certainly write code to do it, but my
question is this: Does anyone know of a function that does this?
Thanks,

That doesn't seem possible with the public API or am I mistaking?

ipchains question
I have a couple questions that I will submit separately. When I have
IPchains running I can't get my samba box to show up in network
neighborhood, but when I turn ipchains off the box shows up. What rules do
I need to add for things to work properly?

Cant receive calls after network goes down and up
Hi,
I have several Grandstream phones connected to Asterisk, some behind NAT and
others not. If I reboot all the phones, everything is fine. Should the
connection go down, and then come back again, those behind a NAT are still
able to make calls, but are unable to receive calls.

PRI for Data and Voice
Hi,
Currently I only have 1 PRI which I am using for dial-in customers. The line
is connected to a Portmaster3. I have never used more than 10 concurrent
channels. The calls can be both analog or ISDN. It would be a waste to order
another PRI for my Asterisk box. Is there any way of splitting a PRI into 2
PRI's of 15 channels each, or plugging the PRI into the * box and it send
the data

Open CallerID Database?
Hey Guys,
I'm curious if there's an interest in a free, CallerID database? For those
of you in the same spot we are, our current provider only provides us with
the CND, excluding CNAM.
Would creating a public database, managed by users be worthwhile to anyone?
Thanks - Any input is greatly appreciated.

Newbie-needs help
Hello all:
I''ve read the documentation and am not quite sure where to start.
What I''m trying to do is build a network with a 3 NIC Shorewall router.
My system is behind a routed /49 network.
I''d like to use 2 or 3 of the static IP addresses for my DMZ ( DNS server, mail, webserver etc ) and
then have my remaining machines in a private network NATed is some way.

I have a "list" of character vectors. I'm trying to see if there is a way
(in a single line, without a loop) to pull out the first element of all the
vectors contained in the list.
listOfVectors[1:length(listOfVectors][1]
doesn't work.

Excel files Locking up problem
Hi,
My samba is 3.0.13 version.
I got a funny problem. UserA logs on to a shared (all users can read/write/execute rights) drive and opens an excel file. UserA closes the file or modifies it. When UserA reopens the file in 5 secs or less, the file seems to be lock by the computer that UserA is on! When UserA had closed the file, UserB on another computer tries to open the file and it says

Samba4 reaches the "Susan" stage
Samba4 reached an important milestone tonight, as I installed it for
my wife to use as her file server for all of her important documents,
email, the book she is working on etc.
Those of you who have been around Samba development for a while will
know that my wife tends to be the first test user of major new
versions of Samba, and she volunteered again this time. Susan played a

7960 Won't Register Yet Multiple Attempts?
Hi List,
I've got a 7960 that's behind NAT (nat_enabled: 1 and
nat_received_processing: 1) and for whatever reason doesn't seem to
register, or at least hold a registration. If both the phone and the
router (netgear) are rebooted, the phone will register, take a few
incoming/outgoing calls no problems, then a few hours later, it drops the
registration and never re-registers. If the

can't access samba shares
The firewall problem seems to be fine now.
Second question, I am on a NT server trying to access samba shares. If I
add encrypt-passwords = yes to smb.conf I get a login box for username and
password. It starts by telling me the username or password is wrong. I can
enter any username, but the box keeps coming back. If I remove encrypt-
passwords I get "The account is not authorized to login
