RCurl cookiejar
R-helpers, When I use cURL in the Terminal: curl --cookie-jar cookie.txt --url "http://corpusdelespanol.org/x.asp" --user-agent "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0" --location --include a cookie file "cookie.txt" is saved to my working directory. However, when I try what I think is the equivalent command R with RCurl:

RCurl and Google Scholar's EndNote references
Hi! I've performed a Google Scholar Search using a query, let's say "Frank Harrell", and parsed the links to the EndNote references from the resulting HTML code. Now I'd like to download all the references automatically. For this, I have tried to use RCurl, but I can't seem to get it working: I always get error code "403 Forbidden" from the web server.

Konqueror and the Cookiejar
Since upgrading to 7.0 Stable, I've noticed an occasional problem with konqueror. I've been recompiling my ports for the past few weeks and have noticed that some sites are complaining about cookies not being enabled. Further investigation has revealed that if I start konqueror from the terminal prompt, I can get an error message: khtml (dom) Can't communicate with the cookiejar!

can store array or hash in cookies?
Hi According to rdoc: value - the cookie''s value or list of values (as an array). So, I can use arrays, briliant. But.... It does not work (at least on webrick) I wrote a controller: def check_cookies_first cookies[:chef] = {:value => ["first", "second"], :expires => Time.local (2020)} render_text ":)" end def

Using mixins versus delegation
I''ve been working on a plugin called Http Test where I add HTML validation and link checking to controller and integration tests through an after filter in ApplicationController. I used to mix in a bunch of methods that I needed into the ApplicationController class, but to me this had a bad smell, so I broke much of the code out into separate classes that I delegate to.

RCurl and cookies in POST requests
Hello. I know that it's usually possible to write cookies to a cookie file by removing the curl handle and doing a gc() call. I can do this with getURL(), but I just can't obtain the same results with postForm(). If I use: curlHandle <- getCurlHandle(cookiefile=FILE, cookiejar=FILE) and then do: getURL(http://example.com/script.cgi, curl=curlHandle) rm(curlHandle) gc() it's

How to set cookies in RCurl
Hi, I am trying to access a website and read its content. The website is a restricted access website that I access through a proxy server (which therefore requires me to enable cookies). I have problems in allowing Rcurl to receive and send cookies. The following lines give me: library(RCurl) library(XML) url <- "http://www.theurl.com" content <- readHTMLTable(url) content

scraping with session cookies
Hi, I am starting coding in r and one of the things that i want to do is to scrape some data from the web. The problem that I am having is that I cannot get passed the disclaimer page (which produces a session cookie). I have been able to collect some ideas and combine them in the code below but I dont get passed the disclaimer page. I am trying to agree the disclaimer with the postForm and write

Cookie Sessions in Merb?
I like the cookie sessions that Rails edge has - they make sense, they''re fast, easy. For those that don''t know: the default session mechanism is to give developers a Hash called session. To store this object between requests it Marshals the session object and sends the object itself (now as a bitstream) back to clients to store in their cookie file. To prevent users from

Setting P3P header before Set-Cookie
Hi folks, For a project I''m working on, I need to set an HTTP header BEFORE the Set-Cookie header is sent. Basically, I need to send along our compact privacy policy before the cookie is set. I''ve tried using: @headers[''P3P''] = "P3P: blah blah blah..." ...but the problem is that no matter what I do, the Set-Cookie header is sent first, and the P3P

How to store a Mechanize object in the database?
Hi, I am trying to save a Mechanize object in database (using a Rails Model). But the save operation throws a TypeError Considering that "agent" is an instance of a Rails Model and "user" is defined as a "text" type in the Model. irb(main):039:0> agent.user = WWW::Mechanize.new #<WWW::Mechanize:0xb71295f0 @follow_meta_refresh=false, @key=nil,

some Mechanize objects never garbage collected?
Greetings, I''m using Mechanize to scrap dozens of pages and have noticed the size of my ruby process keeps growing. I set Mechanize.max_history to 0 with no effect on the memory use. I wrote a little test to show the objects left on the heap after mechanizing a single page and then doing a garbage collection. Sample list appended below. I can supply the test code if it helps.

Re: can store array or hash in cookies?
Not a bug. A cookie is just a string. You can turn anything into a string and store it in a cookie. Something very simple like the following might work for you: array_for_cookie = [1,4,5,7] cookies[:foo] = array_for_cookie .to_s array_from_cookie = cookies[:foo][1..-2].split('','') (And if you are just storing a single integer in a cookie be sure to turn it into a

Cookie-analyzer (antispyware) tool for FreeBSD?
Is anybody aware of existing software that searches the cookiejars of popular browsers available for FreeBSD for known tracking cookies as popular antispyware tools for Windows do?
