DNS troubles while manual upgrading Samba3 to Samba4?
Hi, guys.
I have DC on Samba 3.6. working for years so far.
Now it`s time to go forward, as it can`t provide enough security and
flexibility.
But reading Wiki on classicupgrade I see that there could be hell of
problems, and anyway I`m bit scared of doing that at once. Even though I
have more than 200 boxes I`d rather prefer to set up
Samba 4 AD DC on separate server, set up new domain and

Samba4 ClassicUpgrade
Hi all.
Problems resolved!
I found the samba process that was increasing the memory after I ran the
netstat from PID and I discovered that the process opened 88/464 tcp/udp
port.
After I ran tcpdump program in my DC server listening udp 88 port and I
found many clients machines sending traffic a lot to my DC server. I
blocked the ips from clients machines by iptables and the samba process

Samba4 : Join as an AD domain member
Hi,
I'm trying to join a samba4 (4.0.5) server as a domain member in an AD (2k8
server) environment.
I used this command to compile samba4 (
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Domain_Member) :
./configure --with-ads --with-shared-modules=idmap_ad
But I get this error :
Active Directory support not available : LDAP support ist not available.

> Did you got errors during the classicupgrade?
I didn't do classicupgrade. My Samba AD DC was installed from scratch some
months ago using the instructions from this page
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO and everything had been
working well. I just upgraded some deb-packages with samba to the same version
but different buid-release. Regarding

My query is how to change the administrator password? we have one account
which can join to the samba 4 AD based on the migrated data but the problem
can't change the administrator or

First, sorry for my English.
I'm testing samba4 rc5. I have compiled and installed samba4 and now I'm

server and clients, copied my samba3 ldap contents and tdb files.
But, when I run samba-tool classicupgrade following to the docs,

Hi,
I've done a classic upgrade to from samba 3.6.23 to samba 4.6.5 bringing across all the user
accounts. The samba 3.6.23 we set up with smbldap as an NT Domain with OpenLDAP. After a lot of
effort the classic upgrade worked well but now I'm a bit stuck with idmapping.
The new AD DC is running 4.6.5 on CentOS7 and I can connect using ADUC. I set up a separate AD DM on

Samba3 to Samba4 Group Migration during classicupgrade
Hey everyone...
I'm testing samba3 to samba4 migration and I'm having a problem with
group migration.
Basically, when I run classicupgrade, he keeps warning about group
membership. I increase log level and it tells that the group that some
users belongs to don't exist.
Is there anyway to tell samba classicupgrade to import groups first and
then do the rest?
Kind regards,
Bruno

OpenLDAP proxy to samba4 AD
Hello Marc,
I appreciate your response, as well as the other members. Reading your
answer, I believe I found what I wanted. Option 3, the principle is what I
need right now. I'll try to explain.
Today in production, we have the samba3 + openldap. The samba3 is installed
on a freebsd, but has some problems that we can not detect. My boss does
not want to drop the openldap now. We have

Sharing files while being member of an active directory
I've tried this guide : https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Domain_Member
Which as far as i can se is the nearest thing to an official advisory on how to join a file-sharing host to en active directory.
wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g works, but we cannot access the share from our windows clients, it prompts for passwords right away.
I can't find any clue in the log files and I'm kinda
