Updated the xml code to be more object-oriented
I changed the code to be more prototype-esque, and created a class
called XMLDoc. I may add more functionality to it later, hence the more
generic name, but you do something like this to convert XML to a hash:
XMLDoc = Class.create();
Object.extend(XMLDoc.prototype, {
initialize: function (xmlDoc) {
this.element = xmlDoc;
},
asHash: function () {

Sortables question
Hello,
I am new to Scriptaculous, and was recently brought into a project using
it to create an email Newsletter builder. The idea is that the user
will have lists of elements that he can add to the email page by
dragging the element he wants to add from an "available sections"

good javascript xml parser
Anyone know of a javascript function that will take an xml document and
turn it into an associative array?
Basically it would take something like this:

<id>1</id>
<name>Bob</name>

And turn it into something like this:

I ran into this issue too. My solution was to add an "onUpdate" function to
the sortable that tests the container to see if it''s got any children or
not:

[PATCH server] Update app to work with rails 2.3.2
Note that this does not fix gettext for app,
that will be done separately in another patch
as F10/F11 require different setups for that.
In the meantime gettext works if manually changed
in environment.rb to gettext_rails instead of
gettext/rails

Question about Classes.
I have the attached class that I''m writing. The problem that I''m
running into is that I can not access the options from the createArray
function which get called after the ajax request gets done. I want to
move the values of the xml file to an array and story it in the options
variable. Can someone explain what I''m doing wrong?

same for the td''s, as empty text nodes are inserted randomly by the
gecko engine (and maybe others).

sorting error "Error: item.id has no properties"
I''ve got some sorting working now, but when the page loads and when I
drag, I keep getting this error:
