Support for window scrolling for drag and drop
Today has seen the incorporation of patch #3921 into the script.aculo.us trunk, which allows for automatic scrolling of the page when dragging a draggable element. Thanks to rdmiller for submitting the patch! To use it, you basically just do: new Draggable(''blah'',{scroll:window}); Anyone: Please give it good testing and report any problems you might have. -Thomas

RE: Support for window scrolling fordraganddrop
I have two fixes in a text file. I created the diff using "diff -u", so I hope you can apply the patch. The file is attached. I never could get my optional ''scroll when the dragged element goes outside the scrolled element'' thing to work. I got it to start scrolling correctly, but then it would start making increasingly big jumps and basically scroll out of control.

draganddrop mousemove event question
I''ve noticed that the update method of every Draggable is called for each mousemove event while nothing is dragging. I''m wondering what the reasoning behind this is (vs. attaching the mousemove handler after a mousedown event). Does it have a noticeable performance impact when there are lots of draggables (say 400)? Disclaimer: I''m really new to JavaScript and may have

Question abour Draggables & Droppables - my code example
hi i think my example is very simple and straightforward so i''m not sure if it meets your needs (change revert:true to revert:false from a draggable after I drop it on a droppable so it doesn''t return to its original place.) i did this # 2 divs created here <script language="javascript"> new Draggable(''drag'', {revert: false});

Another draggable/droppable performance booster
This one is as much for Thomas as for the rest of the list (might be a good one for the official build)... I made a change to the dragdrop.js file that significantly improves overall performance of dragging when there are more than one (or many more) droppables on the page. I modified the Draggables.updateDrag method, and added another method below it, and then in Draggable.updateDrag I

draggable gets offset on scrolling when its container is position:fixed
hello, my draggables are located in a DIV which is position:fixed ... so my "cart" stays always at the bottom of the page. when the page gets a vertical scrollbar now, then the droppables zone gets an offset of exactly the scroll ... the same topic can be found here: Having problems with "position:fixed; bottom:0%;" and dropzone div''s Optionen

script.aculo.us 1.6 beta
Heya, The script.aculo.us SVN repositiory now holds the 1.6 beta. This version is mostly a refactoring/bugfix release, and marks the switch over to Prototype 1.5 (Prototype 1.4.0 is no longer supported). The required prototype.js file is included (lib/prototype.js) of course. Changes since 1.5.3: * Prepare for script.aculo.us 1.6, add Prototype 1.5 requirement and check that

Draggable with auto-scroll
Thomas, I''m mostly writing this to you. A couple weeks ago I grabbed the latest SVN version of dragdrop.js because I needed the auto-scroll functionality. I just fixed something in that script that wasn''t working correctly and thought you might want to hear about it. You may have already caught it since I grabbed the script but here it is anyway. In the updateDrag() function

RE: sorting <a href..> with D&D follows the link(browser thinks I click)
Maybe don''t make anchor tags draggable? Or you could do something like change the href to point to ''#'' and move the actual href into your javascript, and only call it if they click without dragging. Still, I think making a clickable item draggable is begging for problems. > -----Original Message----- > From:

RE: Make all LI items draggable
If you want the whole list draggable as one entity, you make one draggable. If you want each item draggable on their own, you need to make each one a new draggable. -----Original Message----- From: rails-spinoffs-bounces-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org [mailto:rails-spinoffs-bounces-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org] On Behalf Of

A couple of draggable patches...
Hi all, I've just raised a ticket <http://dev.rubyonrails.com/ticket/2826> with a patch for enabling 'snapToGrid' feature for draggables. I'm writing a framework on top of scriptaculous and it appeared to me that this would be something that could belong to core Draggable objects. To activate, just add to draggable options on creation. (By default gridSize is set to 10)

Sortable: Ajax not firing?
Using Rails to generate a sortable list, I get the draggable/sortable page elements, but Ajax never fires back the post-sorted list. (I''ve checked with IE & Firefox, the "save this order to the DB" controller hasn''t been called.) The View: <p>Drag to sort.<span id="sort_info"></span></p> <ul id="sort1">

Adding a handler for a pre-existing draggable
Is it possible to add a handler for an event to a draggable that already exists? That is, if I have in a Widget class: var Widget = Class.create(); Widget.prototype = { ... this.draggable = new Draggable(this.element); ... } and I create several Widgets, then later, I want to add a handler for the draggable.onDrag function, what''s the appropriate method to do so? Thanks in advance!

Problem with auto scrolling in sortables
I have a div (ID = ''gallerybox'') in that there are 50 divs each holding an image. The gallerybox div is only big enough to show 15 images without scrolling. (3 rows of 5) I have been eagerly awaiting the auto scrolling feature, but it doesnt seem to be working properly for me. What happens is the scrolling works, and my items are all sortable but I can only drop an

how-to: Draggable
Was looking up the scriptaculous site, but couldn''t find more information on how to use the change option: This is what it says: Callback Description change Called whenever the Draggable is moved by dragging. The called function gets the Draggable instance as its parameter. Could anybody please elaborate on how to use this? Another question: let''s say, I have

Bug in script.aculo.us Draggable in 1.5
I have a Draggable object that contains a SELECT with some OPTION tags. When I select one of the OPTION tags, the entire Draggable acts as though it is being dragged. There is code in the Draggable object to stop this for Firefox: initDrag: function(event) { if(Event.isLeftClick(event)) { // abort on form elements, fixes a Firefox issue var src =

Using draggable_element doesnt work with update_element_function
Hi everyone, I am writing a ruby on rails application, and making heavy use of AJAX calls and evaluate_remote_response. In my remote responses I often have several update_element_function calls going on, to update several divs on the page. What I am doing is calling update_element_function, with the content as a block. Inside the block I usually have html, or make calls to other partials or

Very cool scriptaculous table drag and drop stopped working on new version
Using older versions of prototype.js (1.4.0_rc2) and scriptaculous (1.5._rc4), I had a master table containg other tables (sections), each of which had rows. Using tbody''s as containers, I could drag the section tables up and down over the other section tables AND drag the rows in a section table up and down within that table or into the rows of the other section tables, all very
