How to keep idmapping, when Samba servers becomes part of a Windows AD from a larger organisation.
Hi Since 2006, I used in my departement a Samba solutions based on NT4 style PDC, 2 BDCs and some files servers, desserving one hunderd persons. The backends for passwords and idd are a master and two slave openldap. Now i have to integrate a much larger organisation, an University Hospital, running with Windows AD. For political reasons, I should not maintain DCs anymore, but I will still

adding AD domain users in local Linux group for acces to share
Hello, It seems that domain user can access share when they are specified in "valid list" but not when "valid list" use local group definition. Running command: rpcclient localhost -N -U'root%xxxxxxxx' -c 'setdriver mesange mesange' cmd = setdriver mesange mesange result was NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL" My

Transparent migration of users to a samba PDC, how about cygwin tool ?
Hi, I would like to migrate from NT PDC to a Samba PDC. My main concern is that all my users have local profile (i.e. there is no roaming profiles). It seems that users profiles on a workstation are not valide when migrating to the Samba PDC. It seams that the users cannot keep the same identity. On the other hand, I would really like to change PDC without users noticing anything. Tools

Problem with par("usr")
Hi, I'm trying to use the "usr" argument but I see no effect of this option on my plots. For example: > par(usr=c(0,4,0,4)) > plot(1,1) This plots one point fine, but the coordinates of the plotting region are not those that I specified using par()... I can check this with > par("usr") [1] 0.568 1.432 0.568 1.432 What can I change in order to have this

Hello, R for Dummies. How can I exclude the first 1000 values of a vector (length 12000)? More generally all the values up to the ith? Thanks for your help, Dr Olivier Charansonney Cardiologue Centre Hospitalier Sud-Francilien, Corbeil-Essonnes, France [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Aggregate rows to see the number of occurences
Hi, I have a set of data like the following: [,1] [,2] [1,] 10 2 [2,] 7 0 [3,] 1 0 [4,] 1 0 [5,] 15 0 [6,] 17 4 [7,] 4 0 [8,] 19 8 [9,] 10 2 [10,] 19 5 I'd like to aggregate it in order to obtain the frequency (the number of occurences) for each couple of values (e.g.: (10,2) appears twice, (7,0) appears once). Something cool

glm and capture-recapture
Hello, I am almost new in R, so perhaps my question will be silly. I try to use R for analyzing capture-recapture data in epidemiology. A cancer registry has different sources of patients. We know in each list, patients already known in all other list. The aim is to use capture-recapture models for estimating the number of patients unknow of all the sources. Because no order in sources, one

My remark on libraries
Hi R community, These days, I am writing some functions to work with 2-ways frequency tables ; you know all this tuff about measures of association: Chisq and derived (phi, cramer's v), tau b, tau c, somer's d and so on. So I consider all those functions could be gathered in a single R file, as they are coherent and dealing with the same problem / objective (analysis of crosstables).

[R 2.12] install.packages() with no lib argument does not work
Dear R users, I have just upgraded R from 2.11 to 2.12 on Ubuntu 9.04 (see more informations at the end) from the cran apt-get repository. One of the new things concerning the install.packages() function is stated here : install.packages() and remove.packages() with lib unspecified and multiple libraries in .libPaths() inform the user of the library location used with a message

YP submission / cURL issue. (icecast 2.0.1 / gentoo)
I've yet to assemble a valid crash-procedure to consistently re-produce the issue. AFAIK, whats causing it is possibly CPU-utilization issues with my chaining of processing/DSP, what do y'all think?! -- My encoder setup: Winamp `[DSP] -> SoundSolution (dynamic sonic enhancement) `[Output] -> SqrSoft Crossfading (only ''REAL'' crossfader) `[SqrSoft DSP

calculation of inertial difference with huygens theorem in ward clustering ?
Hello to the R people, within ward clustering the distance calculated to decide the clustering of 2 subsets (h1 and h2) is the variation of inertia : d(h1,h2)=I(h1Uh2)-I(h1)-I(h2); i've been said that a way to calculate faster this d(h1,h2) is using the huygens theorem decomposing the inertia into "the inertia to the centroid + the distance to an axe" (that's my version ...). RNN Algorithm for Ward Clustering ?
Hi R people, i'm looking for the Reciprocal Nearest Neighbour algorithm applied to Ward clustering; I know that it is explained in details in the following book: Downs, G. M.; Willett, P. In Advanced Computer-Assisted Techniques in Drug Discovery; van de Waterbeemd, H., Ed.; VCH: Weinheim, 1994; Vol. 3. but cannot order copies it without knowing the pages involved; could someone

amap
Dear R users, Version 0.7-1 of the amap package has been uploaded to CRAN. Amap package includes standard hierarchical clustering and k-means. We optimize implementation (with a parallelized hierarchical clustering) and allow the possibility of using different distances like Eulidean or Spearman (rank-based metric). We implement a principal component analysis (with robusts

critical value for HEGY test in uroot
R-users, i have some time series and use HEGY seasonal UR tests in the uroot package. But i have problems with interpretation of t and F statistics. Is there any critical values for these tests in R? is anybody ever write a bootstrap of these tests? thanks for advance, with all my bests, erik. ================================= Erik-André SAULEAU SEAIM Centre Hospitalier 87, Avenue

StructTS
Dear R-list, I try to use StructTS for some univariate time series, with a type="BSM". I have two questions: 1-in the "fitted" value of the object, it seems to me that for getting back fitted values, one have to add level, slope and seasonal (or "level" contains already the two other ones) 2-i am really circumspect about the results of "KalmanForecast"

Error gdata and gplots packages

I installed R by following instructions from CRAN after modification into my /etc/apt/sources.list file sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install r-base sudo apt-get install r-base-dev When I try to load library(gdata) ou library(gplots), I have error message : library(gdata) gdata: read.xls support for 'XLS' (Excel 97-2004) files
