cwRsync- chdir failed, server 2003
I'm having prolems with cwRsync on server 2003. I'm getting pretty much
identical results to this from the archive:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2004-April/009187.html, and as far
as I can see the only suggestion there was to check permissions.
I have one further complication too- I'm trying to sync a remote server
on to a vmware virtual disk that I've mounted using the

Domain Member Server: Domain Users cannot access shares
Hello to the Samba devs and mailing list subscribers,
I've run into a bit of trouble getting a new domain member server setup.
I've got three Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit VMs running the latest stable build of
Samba built from source acting as Domain Controllers. I've got a fourth
physical machine running Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit running the canonical
distribution samba (Version 4.3.9-Ubuntu)

File Permissions 770 vs 760
I hope I did not miss something obvious, but I am having some file
permission issues. I am running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Server. I have some
directories served up by Samba. I force a group name to be used for all
files created on these directories to which all users belong.
In one directory I need to force users to save files with 770 permission for
draft documents so that other users can work on them

High volume plot using log(local density)
Hi,
I am using the densCols to draw a high volume scatter plot. Instead of
using the default local density, I would like to take log of the local
density and then map them to the colors. I could not figure out how to do
that.
For example:
plot(x,y,col=densCols(x,y,"log")) ?
Any help would be appreciated!

[PATCH 2/5] ocfs2/dlm: add lockres as parameter to dlm_new_lock()
Wether the dlm_lock needs to access lvb or not depends on dlm_lock_resource it belongs to. So a new parameter "struct dlm_lock_resource *res" is added to dlm_new_lock() so that we can know if we need to allocate lvb for the dlm_lock. And we have to make the lockres availale for calling dlm_new_lock().

Problem with absolute symbolic links
I'm trying to synchronize a particularly troublesome directory structure on a SunOS box to a PC. I really want all symbolic links resolved to real files on the PC when everything is done. I can't seem to find any combination of parameters that will accomplish this.
It boils down to two problems.
1. It seems like that even if I exclude a symbolic link that is a directory it is not

Proper unix ownership/Permissions for top level share
I am using zfs on linux to store my file shares on. When I create a new
file system, they have the following permissions:
[root at server ~]# zfs create tank/testsystem
[root at server ~]# ls -Al /tank
drwxrwxrwx+ 10 root root 27 Jun 2 20:10 Software
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 2 Jun 3 07:43 testsystem
At this point, if I use the rsat and attempt to set ACL, I get

sgid bit set on ordinary files mounted via smbfs
Hi, I find that files (not directories) in an smbfs-mounted share always
have the sgid bit set. I've looked in the FAQ and HOWTO but didn't see
anything. I wonder if someone might suggest a way to fix it.
The share is served from Windows 2003 SP2 and mounted on a Fedora 10 Linux
machine (samba-client-3.2.5-0.23.fc10.i386) with this command line:
mount //wcl-fp1/shared /mnt/shared -t

Linux fs ACL ignored for Samba4 share in Windows?
This command lists all directories in iss_num. However the . (iss_num
itself) has drwxrwxr-x
Now for the incriminating file example that shows abnormal ACL in
Windows: the file resides in iss_num/am/uz and has -rwxrwxrwx
So there is no + in listing for share directory nor for files in the
directory structure.

Domain Member Server: Domain Users cannot access shares
So it seems that I have identified the source of all of my permissions
issues, though I'm unclear as to exactly why these problems have occurred
and would love an explanation if anyone can offer one.
I was using mdadm to create a RAID 1 array, formatting it ext4 and storing
all of the data that samba was serving on /dev/md0. The two drives that
make up the array are hosted by an LSI MegaRaid

ls -l name lookup not working with winbind Samba 3.14a
Hi,
I would be grateful for any help with this.
We are running Samba 3.0.14a with winbind, libiconv and acl support.
We are running a Veritas cluster between two Solaris 8 servers.
The Samba share is mounted on an external disk which is hosted by either
server.
The problem is that our Samba share while visible and accessible from the
command prompt cannot be listed with a name lookup ls
