Finally cracked the mystery of motherboards with Vt-d support
After contacting Asus, MSI and Gigabyte, this is what I got back. Only motherboards with the QXX chipsets and certified with the Intel VPro support the Vt-d virtualization technology. I''m not sure about MSI though, because this is what I got from their support: "Almost board could support. Please refer to our website, http://www.msi.com/product/mb/." The problem is that

VGA/PCI Passthrough of Secondary Graphics Adapter
Aloha! Concisely, I''ve been trying for several days to get VGA/PCI passthrough working. Regarding VGA vs PCI passthrough, I''m not entirely certain of the difference? Does Xen perform a different set of operations when passing through a VGA card versus any PCIe card? I''ve read the wiki and it seems the answer is "yes;" however, when passing through a

Quadrified GTX 480 VT-d passthrough. CUDA 5.5 in Linux partial success
Hi everyone, after following in the footsteps of the following discussion (http://lists.xenproject.org/archives/html/xen-users/2013-09/msg00106.html) I had been able to turn my GTX 480 into a Quadro 6000. When I VT-d passthrough it to a Debian jessie VM it shows up fine and CUDA 5.5 seems to function properly up to a point: lspci -v: 00:04.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF100GL

return (x+1) * 1000
And the related: > f = function() stop(return("lol")) > f() [1] "lol" I have a feeling all of this is just return() performing correctly though. If there are already R CMD CHECK checks for this kind of thing (I wasnt sure but I'm hearing from others there may be/are) that may be (and/or may need to be) sufficient. ~G On Fri, Nov 20, 2020 at 3:27 PM D?nes T?th

return (x+1) * 1000
Without having dug into the details, it could be that one could update the parser by making a 'return' a keyword and require it to be followed by a parenthesis that optionally contains an expression followed by end of statement (newline or semicolon). Such a "promotion" of the 'return' statement seems backward compatible and would end up throwing syntax errors on:

ssh and chroot...
I have a RedHat 6.0 x86 server which is serving a number of minor things, which I wish to add shell access to. I'm currently running sshd and am quite happy with it, the exceptiong being that I am unable to make sshd perform a chroot for shell account users. I have been reading man pages and howto's, many of which discuss sshd or chroot, but never the two together. Is this not an

Intel VT-d and Asus Desktop/Workstation mainboards, eg. Asus P9X79 WS
Good day to you Im a casual Xen user and am also using I/O Virtualization. I had always trouble getting DMAR tables (and IOMMU) recognized with Asus Mainboards, despite the fact that I always used this boards a lot. Since the Nehalem Intel architecture, I looked into Intel Mainboards due the fact that this seems to work out with Xen, Linux and VT-d. My request is, that someone who tried Asus

Problem with TCP_wrappers
Hi, I''m running into something weird here. I''m using RH5.1 with tcp_wrappers 7.6. The syntax for hosts.allow and hosts.deny is: <service list> : <access list> [ : <shell_command> ] Everything works when I _don''t_ use the shell_command. I used the _exact_ line as in the man-pages utilising "safe_finger" (comes with tcp_wrappers), tcpdchk

length of `...`
Hi, In some cases the number of arguments passed as ... must be determined inside a function, without evaluating the arguments themselves. I use the following construct: dotlength <- function(...) length(substitute(expression(...))) - 1L # Usage (returns 3): dotlength(1, 4, something = undefined) How can I define a method for length() which could be called directly on `...`? Or is it an

Permissive devices in Xen
Hello, is there any reason why even permissive devices cannot write some areas in the PCI config space? The PCI_COMMAND is handled in special way so that the device is enabled/disabled properly, am I right? Why is PCI_INTERRUPT_LINE read from dev->irq and not from the config space? Why the PCI address bars are handled in very different way? And it seems that writing these bars is never
