vertical menus
Hello all, Not a directly related question to scriptaculous or prototype, but I am looking for a good, dynamic vertical javascript menu. I''ve done some searching and there are a lot of menu implementations out there. I''m looking for something more or less free, but will pay/donate a small fee towards something worth while. I figured I''d ask here to help filter down

getElementsByClassName
How should I expect the performance of this function to be? I wrote this code: function CreateTOC(){ var $aTOC = document.getElementsByClassName(''tocitem''); if(isArray($aTOC)){ $temp = ''<INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT" NAME="cmdSave_Update" VALUE="Close" CLASS="menubuttons"> ''; $temp += ''<INPUT

How to insert styles with Insertion
Hi, I''m having difficulty using Prototype''s Insertion method to insert styles into a document node. Code like this seems to fail: new Insertion.Top(widgets[i], ''<style type="text/css"></style>''); When I inspect the DOM, the style is nowhere to be found. Any ideas on how to get this to work? Thank you, Jeff Rankin Human Factors 544-4333

$$ is slooooow in IE
While $$ and getElementsByClassName are ridiculously speedy in Firefox (thanks to XPath), I''m finding both functions to be intolerably slow in IE. The page I''m working with has fewer than 1000 elements -- doesn''t seem THAT big -- and it''s still taking upwards of 4 seconds (!) to pick out the right ones. Are there documented problems with particular

childrenWithClassName
Hi, i need some help :) Does anywhere exists a fix for a code (scheme) like this: ---------------- var blas = document.getElementsByClassName( ''foo-class'', ''foo-id'' ); blas.each ( function( bla ) { var subbla = Element.childrenWithClassName( bla, ''subbla-class'', true ); } ); -------------- This scheme worked well till script.aculo

Bug? IE, getElementsByClassName and "length"
So, I have this form/datagrid thing. I want to have a button that clears the fields (not a reset, which would set them to the default state, I want them blank.) For various reasons, getByClassName seemed the best way to deal with this. Everything was fine on Moz/Firefox. Safari seems fine. But IE... Some detective work later, it seems that the problem is caused by *another* field on the page.

RE: document.getElementsByClassName (prototype) andElement.childrenWithClassName (scriptaculous) redundancy?
Isn''t the difference that the scriptaculous one only gets child nodes from the node you specify, whereas the prototype one gets all in the entire document? Still, it would be nice to just have the one, and let you pass in the document element if you wanted all of them. Just guessing, really. I haven''t looked at the code in question. Problems with Prototype in script.aculo.us 1.6.5
Hi, When I''m using the Prototype version attached to script.aculo.us 1.6.5 (Prototype 1.5.0_rc1 revision [5462]) I get some "Object doesn''t support this property or method" in the Effect.BlindDown method (when the method tries to get the dimentions). If I''m using the version of prototype that was attached to 1.6.4 I do not get this error. Is this a known

getElementsByClassName
I know this is deprecated in 1.6, but my question is how do I properly use the native browser implementation? Do I need to change my code? I''m having a difficult time finding examples on this. Why is this deprecated instead of incorporated into prototype? Or did I answer my own question... Also, I want to utilize the new document.querySelector. Has some one implemented this inside

document.getElementsByClassName (prototype) and Element.childrenWithClassName (scriptaculous) redundancy?
Is there a reason scriptaculous provides what appears to be a redundant function? The reason I''m asking is that it only seems to be used twice throughout all of scriptaculous, and it doesn''t appear to work properly (for some reason it''s returning the actual element, rather than an array with all of the elements) If there is no reason, I''ll modify it to use

resizing multiple images using getElementsByClassName
I am building a iPhoto like (Read rip-off) interface for thumbnails and I am having a couple problems that I thought some one on the list might be able to assist me on ... first off here is the page: http://v4.incontrolsolutions.com/galltest/ I am no Javascript whizz and I am sure there is a FAR more efficient way to do what I am trying. Having said that, the 2 things I was looking for

[LLVMdev] differences in IR and ELF?
I'm trying to create a GlobalVariable that is a ConstantArray. Id like each element to be a pointer to other things in the program(global variables, functions). So that they all have the same type Id like to make the elements void pointers. I think I am going about this wrong, heres how I am doing it: void writeArray(Module &M, GlobalVariable *shadow, Function *val,

IE Problem with document.getElementsByTag
Does anyone know if IE has a limit to how many object document.getElementsByTag can return? The main problem is that getElementsByClassName is not working on my page with IE but it works with Firefox. I''ve traced it back to the document.body.getElementsByTag(''*'') command. While inspecting the length Firefox returns 465. In IE the length alert returns [object]. When I

Preventing/allowing exceptions to occur in Element.add/remove ClassName
Hello everyone ! Thomas asked me to discuss here the behavior of Element.addClassName, as relating to ticker #2232 [1]. In HEAD, if the element passed-in to Element.addClassName does not exist, an exception is thrown, and script execution stops there. I believe this is inconsistent with other functions: Object.extend(Element, { hasClassName: function(element, className) { element =

[lld] RFC: Allow custom sections to be under GNU_RELRO
Peter, Thanks for the great feedback! > The first is the use of a custom suffix, all other linker conventions, that I know of, use prefixes as these are much easier and faster to match against names. > This can be important in large programs compiled -ffunction-sections as there can be millions of sections to match. I understand the reason of having these conventions in linkers. On the

Compiz - vista like Right Side Panel
Guys (and girls) I have seen screenshots of compiz with a vista like right side panel holding the clock, calendar, system stats, etc. that I would love to add. The problem is that (1) I don't know what it is called or (2) where to look to get it. I have looked at kasbar, ksim and universal sidebar under KDE, but those are not what I've seen. Anyone else have any other ideas? -- David
