Prototype based tabs and field validation. Enjoy!
Thought I''d try and contribute to the growing prototype ecosystem. tabs: http://tetlaw.id.au/view/blog/fabtabulous-simple-tabs-using-prototype/ field validation: http://tetlaw.id.au/view/blog/really-easy-field-validation-with-prototype/ Both real easy and clean to use. Hope y''all can use them somehow. Cheers -- Andrew

Implementing a boolean "switch" in a Class
I need a single boolean which would be "globally" accessible to all instances of a class. Seems like the boolean should be in the class prototype, but I was troubled by the difficulty of setting the prototype boolean to true. Maybe I''m missing something? var MyObject = Class.create(); MyObject.prototype = { bSwitch: false, ... other methods and properties } var oMyOb1

Detecting Body Onload
I have a piece of code that "waits" for body onload. Every 30ms, it tests $(''body''). Seems that isn''t always good enough. I''ve hit situations where the DOM is "partially" loaded somehow. I fixed matters by setting a global flag... <body onload="bodyLoaded=true;"> which provides a better test... of course I could

Really easy field validation with Prototype Help
Hello, I''m trying to implement this. The problem that I am having is that the form submits via an Ajax call and I can figure out how to get the validation code to return false if something failed validation. Below is the link to the webpage but I see nothing on how to have it call a function when everything is valid.

javascript woes with radio button groups
Ok! So I have this survey project I''m working on where there are a list of questions but only one shows up at a time. That part''s easy. And, it is fully functional as we speak (and I think even ''live'') however..... My boss wants to be able to have the survey go to the next question when a user selects an answer. This part is easy.. except..... IE

Prototype / Scriptaculous & Dojo

using Singleton with Prototype
Hello all. I''m writing my own object using prototype and I wonder how you write and call only one instance of class. Can anyone share his idea of singleton? thanks Gregor ---------------------------------------------------- Gdy nadchodzi przełomowy moment w historii, musisz zdecydować, po czyjej stronie będziesz. [LLVMdev] How to use EE->runFunction for a function with StructRet set?
Hi, I'm using LLVM 2.4 (but llvm-gcc 2.2) on Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) for a small part-time project combining Witty (http://www.webtoolkit.eu) and the ExecutionEngine in LLVM. (This is my second week with any of these so I still lack a lot of basic knowledge.) Sometimes I want to call a function returing a struct (in this case std::string), thus hasStructRetAttr() is true for the Function

DOM events not firing in IE6 with floated divs
Hi All Not strictly Scriptaculous but I came across this whilst trying to implement some Scriptaculous code. I am hoping some XHTML guru out there might be able to shed some light. If you load up the attached file in IE6, you''ll see the events only fire in the middle section of the title bar when your over the border ! - FF1.5 is fine.. Any thoughts / comments appreciated.. Cheers

Prototype Based Validation with form_remote_tag
Hello, I am attempting to use validation.js from http://tetlaw.id.au/view/blog/really-easy-field-validation-with-prototyp e/ with form_remote_tag. The rails form helper binds the needed Ajax.Updater to the onSubmit action of the form. The validation.js also attempts to bind to the onSubmit of the form. The logic that is needed is if( valid.validate() ) { ...Ajax.Updater... } where valid

RE: Yahoo!-like Eventobjectemulation/abstractioninPrototype?
This is obviously rough draft and not thoroughly tested, but it seems to work. If you''d like, give it a try (load it after you load prototype.js): Function.prototype.bindAsEventListener = function(object) { var __method = this; return function(event) { return __method.call(object, new SuperEvent(event || window.event)); } } var SuperEvent = Class.create();

Autocomplete GetToken??
Hi, I needing to modify the control.js file and am confused about what the purpose of the getToken function is. I read the docs section below and still don''t understand why it doesn''t just access the form.value directly. Docs say: This method should get the text for which to provide autocompletion by invoking this.getToken(), NOT by directly accessing this.element.value. This is

vertical menus
Hello all, Not a directly related question to scriptaculous or prototype, but I am looking for a good, dynamic vertical javascript menu. I''ve done some searching and there are a lot of menu implementations out there. I''m looking for something more or less free, but will pay/donate a small fee towards something worth while. I figured I''d ask here to help filter down

Xfire Crashing
I am having some troubles with Xfire (installer number 43094). I am running Ubuntu 10.10. Xfire starts and I can log in, but as soon as I click something, it crashes. I'm starting with a fresh WINEPREFIX. There is nothing else installed there, and no changes in winecfg. Windows version is set to XP. First couple trys, running Wine 1.2.2 from the Ubuntu repositories:
