RE: Yahoo!-like Event object emulation/abstractioninPrototype?
If that doesn''t work, then you''ve done something wrong somewhere. ''Cause it works for IE for me and everyone else. The only advantage I see with the YUI toolkit is that it''ll defer attaching events to elements that do not yet exist in the DOM. Big whoop, only a sloppy programmer would try to attach an event to a non-existant element. With Prototype, you can

RE: DOM events not firing in IE6 with floated di vs
Yea that''s what I am seeing also. Think I got round this before by turning the structure into a table :( Andrew - Thanks for your input.. > -----Original Message----- > From: rails-spinoffs-bounces-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org > [mailto:rails-spinoffs-bounces-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org] On > Behalf Of Andrew Tetlaw > Sent:

Yahoo Container Library
Just a note that Yahoo came out with some more widgets Check out http://com1.devnet.scd.yahoo.com/yui/container/index.html. Maybe we can adopt some of their ideas. * I like the Module library and its subclasses * you can do unobtrusive html and use this when you instantiate the javascript objects dom _______________________________________________ Rails-spinoffs mailing list

DOM events not firing in IE6 with floated divs
Hi All Not strictly Scriptaculous but I came across this whilst trying to implement some Scriptaculous code. I am hoping some XHTML guru out there might be able to shed some light. If you load up the attached file in IE6, you''ll see the events only fire in the middle section of the title bar when your over the border ! - FF1.5 is fine.. Any thoughts / comments appreciated.. Cheers

horizontal, multi-level fly-out menu
Hello everyone, Did anyone of you ever create a horizontal javascript menu useing prototype (maybe plus scriptaculous). I am looking for a multilevel flyout menu. I saw that the Yahoo UI Library offers library controls for menus http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/menu/ but I would rather like to use prototype. TIA, Alex _______________________________________________ Rails-spinoffs mailing list

Event.observe(myelement, ''click'', myfunc.bindAsEventListener()); That might fix your wagon. How to fire an event when the page completes loading?
I''m looking for an event handler in Prototype (or plain old JavaScript) similar to onContentReady() in the YUI library: (see http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/examples/event/event-timing.html) How can I implement this? If I''m not mistaken, my testings showed the document.onLoad() happens too early (as soon as the page loads it fires, even before some dom elements are on the page

Implementing a boolean "switch" in a Class
I need a single boolean which would be "globally" accessible to all instances of a class. Seems like the boolean should be in the class prototype, but I was troubled by the difficulty of setting the prototype boolean to true. Maybe I''m missing something? var MyObject = Class.create(); MyObject.prototype = { bSwitch: false, ... other methods and properties } var oMyOb1

tabs
I was wondering if there is a way to do tabs easier than most of the tutrials that I have found. I dont realy care if its realy fast just as long as it works. Something sort of like http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/documentation/examples/kitchensink/demo.html#TabsAlso if there is a way where if my viewers want to save something as a link than there is something they can click and it will give

Really easy field validation with Prototype Help
Hello, I''m trying to implement this. The problem that I am having is that the form submits via an Ajax call and I can figure out how to get the validation code to return false if something failed validation. Below is the link to the webpage but I see nothing on how to have it call a function when everything is valid.

JavaScript book recommendations
No, not a question, but a few suggestions. I take it that everyone serious about using Prototype & Co. already has Christophe''s (Porteneuve) Prototype and Script.aculo.us book. Apart from that, I''d like to point out two new, library-agnostic books: Cameron Adams and several others The Art & Science of JavaScript Sitepoint 2008 http://www.sitepoint.com/books/jsdesign1/

Prototype based tabs and field validation. Enjoy!
Thought I''d try and contribute to the growing prototype ecosystem. tabs: http://tetlaw.id.au/view/blog/fabtabulous-simple-tabs-using-prototype/ field validation: http://tetlaw.id.au/view/blog/really-easy-field-validation-with-prototype/ Both real easy and clean to use. Hope y''all can use them somehow. Cheers -- Andrew

javascript woes with radio button groups
Ok! So I have this survey project I''m working on where there are a list of questions but only one shows up at a time. That part''s easy. And, it is fully functional as we speak (and I think even ''live'') however..... My boss wants to be able to have the survey go to the next question when a user selects an answer. This part is easy.. except..... IE

Detecting Body Onload
I have a piece of code that "waits" for body onload. Every 30ms, it tests $(''body''). Seems that isn''t always good enough. I''ve hit situations where the DOM is "partially" loaded somehow. I fixed matters by setting a global flag... <body onload="bodyLoaded=true;"> which provides a better test... of course I could

RE: Error: "onclick() is not a function"
I see what he is saying now. When you assign a click event with the Event.observe it does not allow you to call it with the $(''xxx'').onclick(); command as it''s looking for the onclick tag in the a tag. I''m stumped on a way to get this to work. Jon Whitcraft Web Application Developer Online Services - Indianapolis Motor Speedway (317) 492-8623
