Specifying random effects distribution in glmer()
I'm trying to figure out how to carry out a Poisson regression fit to longitudinal data with a gamma distribution with unknown shape and scale parameters. I've tried the 'lmer4' package's glmer() function, which fits the Poisson regression using: library('lme4') fit5<- glmer(seizures ~ time + progabide + timeXprog + offset(lnPeriod) + (1|id), data=pdata,

Help with glmer {lme4) function: how to return F or t statistics instead of z statistics.
Hi, I'm new to R and GLMMs, and I've been unable to find the answers to my questions by trawling through the R help archives. I'm hoping someone here can help me. I'm running an analysis on Seedling survival (count data=Poisson distribution) on restoration sites, and my main interest is in determining whether the Nutrients (N) and water absorbing polymer Gel (G) additions to the

Problem on glmer
Hi all, I was trying to fit a Gamma hierarchical model using "glmer", but got weird error message that I could not understand. On the other hand, a similar call to the glmmPQL leads to results that are close to what I expect. I also tried to change tha "nAGQ" argument in "glmer", but it did not solve the problem. The model I was fitting has a simple structure - one

R vs Stata on generalized linear mixed models: glmer and xtmelogit
Hello, I have compared the potentials of R and Stata about GLMM, analysing the dataset 'ohio' in the package 'faraway' (the same dataset is analysed with GEE in the book 'Extending the linear model with R' by Julian Faraway). Basically, I've tried the 2 commands 'glmmPQL' and 'glmer' of R and the command 'xtmelogit' of Stata. If I'm not

random effects using lmer
Hi, I am trying to run a logistic regression to look at the risk of malaria infection in individuals. I want to account for intra household correlation and so want to include a household level random effect. I have been using the lmer command in lme4 package but am getting some strange results that are completely different to those I get using STATA. Can I just check that this is the correct

package installtion
I'm getting the following error in a script: "Error: could not find function "lmer."??? I'm wondering of my lme4 package is installed incorrectly.? Can someone tell me the installation procedure?? I looked at the support docs but couldn't translate that into anything that would work.

Try reproduce glmm by hand
Dear all, In order to be sure I understand glmm correctly, I try to reproduce by hand a simple result. Here is a reproducible code. The questions are in _________________ Of course I have tried to find the solution using internet but I was not able to find a solution. I have also tried to follow glmer but it is very complicated code! Thanks for any help. Marc # Generate set of df with nb

step and glmer
Is it possible to use the step() function with a glmer() as an object? I obtain the following error message when I try to do it: "Error in x$terms : $ operator not defined for this S4 class". I perform the glmer correctly but I can't do the step. Thank you so much. -- View this message in context: http://n4.nabble.com/step-and-glmer-tp1474390p1474390.html Sent from the R help

Heteroscedasticity in a percent-cover dataset
Hi, I am currently trying to do a GLMM on a dataset with percent cover of seagrass (dep. var) and a suite of explanatory variables including algal (AC) and epiphyte cover (EC), rainfall, temperature and sunshine hours. M2=glmer(SG~AC+EC+TP+SS+RF+(1|Location/fSi/fTr), family=binomial,data=data,nAGQ=1) As the dependent variable is percent cover, I used a binomial error structure. I also have a

Error running MuMIn dredge function using glmer models
Dear list, I am trying to use MuMIn to compare all possible mixed models using the dredge function on binomial data but I am getting an error message that I cannot decode. This error only occurs when I use glmer. When I use an lmer analysis on a different response variable every works great. Example using a simplified glmer model global model: mod<- glmer(cbind(st$X2.REP.LIVE,

glmer.nb: function not in downloaded lme4 package?
Dear R Help, I would like to use the glmer.nb function for mixed modelling using negative binomial distribution please. On the CRAN website apparently this function is called from the lme4 package (version 0.99999911-1). I have downloaded the latest version of the lme4 package (version 0.999999-2) and have recently reinstalled the latest version of 64-bit R (version 3.0.1) but after

Problem specifying Gamma distribution in lme4/glmer
Dear R and lme4 users- I am trying to fit a mixed-effects model, with the glmer function in lme4, to right-skewed, zero-inflated, non-normal data representing understory grass and forb biomass (continuous) as a function of tree density (indicated by leaf-area). Thus, I have tried to specify a Gamma distribution with a log-link function but consistently receive an error as follows: >

Fitting GLMM models with glmer
Hi everybody: I?m trying to rewrite some routines originally written for SAS?s PROC NLMIXED into LME4's glmer. These examples came from a paper by Nelson et al. (Use of the Probability Integral Transformation to Fit Nonlinear Mixed-Models with Nonnormal Random Effects - 2006). Firstly the authors fit a Poisson model with canonical link and a single normal random effect bi ~ N(0;Sigma^2).The

Duda glmer

CONFIDENCE INTERVAL FOR GLMER MODEL
I've built a poisson regression model for multiple subjects by using the GLMER function. I've also developed some curves for defining its limits but I did not succeed in developing confidence interval for the model's curve (confint or predict does not work - only for glm). Does anyone know how can I produce confidence interva for a glmer model? I'll appriciate any help... Liat --
