Anonymous function variable scope issue
Hey all,
I joined this list mostly because I don''t see too much in the OO
javascript arena, and I have q''s (of course).
I have a little pet project I am working on, you can see it here:
http://thinkof.net/notify/index.html
I have a class Notify.Alert() that takes some options and displays a
div alert instead of a javascript one. Currently it is configurable

InPlaceEditor scrolls to top in Firefox?
When I click an InPlaceEditor field in Firefox 1.0.7, the page scrolls
up to the top. That''s disconcerting, and often ends up with the
editable field out of the viewable pane. I can duplicate this on both
Mac and PC. Is there a way to prevent this? Even the demo at
http://wiki.script.aculo.us/scriptaculous/show/Ajax.InPlaceEditor does
this.

Proposal of "Resizable" javascript library
Hi, All.
I''ve developed the small javascript library to make the widgets
"resizable". Please try attached file or following URL
URL: http://221.112.61.214/~kzk/others/mixi/resizer.html
Now I wish script.aculo.us developers to merge this into the
"script.aculo.us". Is there any chance of merge? Is this a right
place to ask this question?
Thanks in advance.

innerHTML and scripts not running
Hello,
I''m having an issue with getting embedded javascript code to actually
run when loaded via an Ajax.Request() call and the callback function
inserts the generated HTML and js code to my current page. It seems
that the javascript code is not properly parsing.
For example, I''m using the following function showinfo() to return
some html code.
function showInfo(go_url){

Drag & Scroll
When using drag and drop, the browser window will not scroll if you move the mouse off the page. This makes it very difficult, if not impossible to create certain types of web applications.
I know this has been mentioned before and is on the Wish List, but it''s very frustrating.
If you look at this other Javascript library called "Drag''nDrop & DHTML Library"

Custom tooltip component?
I am looking to develop a custom tool tip component for a list of links.
...Which is kind of not that big a deal.
But, and this seems to be the tricky part, I also want to be able to
set/specify the interval threshold after which to display the tool tip. (and
by nature of "tool tip", don''t display if the mouse moves out during that
interval. etc)
Any suggestions?

JavaScript Compression
Is there a good windows-based JavaScript compressor which will reliably
compress script aculo and prototype?

Tooltips
Anyone know of a tooltip extension which uses script.aculo or prototype?
e.g., hover a mouse on an object and pop-up a "help" dialogue?

RE: Support for window scrolling fordraganddrop
I have two fixes in a text file. I created the diff using "diff -u", so
I hope you can apply the patch. The file is attached.
I never could get my optional ''scroll when the dragged element goes
outside the scrolled element'' thing to work. I got it to start
scrolling correctly, but then it would start making increasingly big
jumps and basically scroll out of control.

Implementing a boolean "switch" in a Class
I need a single boolean which would be "globally" accessible to all
instances of a class. Seems like the boolean should be in the class
prototype, but I was troubled by the difficulty of setting the prototype
boolean to true. Maybe I''m missing something?
var MyObject = Class.create();
MyObject.prototype = {
bSwitch: false,
... other methods and properties
}

problem with sortable lists and IE
* I sent this message previously from the wrong address so it didn''t go
through so, I apologize in advance if a duplicate shows up *
Hello, I am very new to script.aculo.us and prototype but was trying to
implement some of the cool ajax functionality with Webwork.
I have been having a little trouble with the sortable element demo. I have

sortables callbacks
i know someone just recently asked about queueing ajax requests, my
question is similar in the regards that i don''t want my application to
send multiple requests. i have 2 sortabbles lists left, and right. when
i move an item from left to the right the onUpdate callback will send 2
ajax requests. one for each sortables. however. i want it to serialize

Autoscrolling for Draggables and Sortables
Hi all,
I''ve applied an experimental patch today to the scripaculous trunk.
Setting the scroll option on Draggables or Sortables to an element
(or an element id)
will attempt to auto-scroll this element when dragging.
See test/functional/dragdrop3_test.html for a demo/usage.
It''s modelled after the behaviour in the Mac OS X finder, with
variable scrolling
speed depending

Problem with autocomplete
Hello,
I''m using scriptaculous library (in symfony) v. 1.6.1
Great library !!!!!
I have a problem.
While in IE6 it''s all ok (the autocomplete field works perfectly) in FF
1.5.0.2 the field apparently isn''t working. If I try the example in the
scriptaculous homepage (v. 1.4.0_pre4 of Prototype) doesn''t work with
FF, while the simple online demo, that uses

Tooltips.js
Hi,
there already had been a Tooltips implementation [1] but i wasn''t to
happy with that one, not only because they didn''t support simple
mouse-hover tooltips (just as they appear when you are using title
attributes)
But writting this lib was also a good way to get into script.aculo.us
and prototype.js. (and i can''t say how impressed i am)
So here it is:
