wrong number of arguements (1 for 0) on ActiveRecord::Base#send
So I''m not exactly using Rails, but just ActiveRecord. Though I felt this would be more appropriate in the Rails forum than the general Ruby forum. I''m working on an app that interacts with databases, without having a database of its own. I have a class called Modeller, and a Modeller#retrieve_model(name) method that takes a name, looks for a table matching that name, creates a

Version Control (and gems)
1. Full version control of a web app would include the constellation of gems actually used. I can do ''gem list'' and put that into a file in version control but that could include unused gems. That is, it could include gems use by other projects. And putting the whole gem in version control seem like overkill since the authors do that. But it might be safer. Do we have a

Unicorn fails to restart gracefully on capistrano deploy
First off thanks very much for all the hard work on unicorn. Alas, we''ve encountered an issue where unicorn fails to spawn new workers that have loaded the incoming revision on a capistrano deploy. I''m not entirely sure the issue is due to unicorn as it appears that bundler was responsible for a similar issue in the past:

how does capistrano get the ENV?
I don''t have the same environment variables with a capistrano task as I do with a conventional ssh session. When I ssh in and try "env" I see my GEM_HOME and GEM_PATH environment variables from my ~/.bash_profile (I also have a .gemrc file). But when I try "cap shell" and "env" I don''t see the GEM_HOME and GEM_PATH environment variables. How do I

Problem using rvm in bash script
I am using rvm installed on Ubuntu 10.04 as recommended in the rvm docs (including changes to .bashrc) and all is working well with several versions of Rails, and Ruby 1.8.7 and 1.9.2. If I run rvm use 1.9.2 it says Using /home/colinl/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.2-p0 and if I run rvm info It shows exactly what I would expect for 1.9.2 and I can start the rails server and all is well. The problem arises if

Camping-list Digest, Vol 15, Issue 2
Eli, This is interesting. I enabled DEBUG logging in Apache and tailed the error.log. Lo and behold, you''re right, its a problem with one of my require statements. Namely: `gem_original_require'': no such file to load -- camping/fastcgi (LoadError) Strange, it works fine when I do it in IRB, or do it from a ruby script at the bash prompt. Apache runs as the same user that

Invoking Rails from an API
Hi, I am trying to use ruby int an embedded web server. The environment does not have the luxury of CGI or WebBrick. I find limited documentation on how to get this to work. As a test program on windows, I tried the code in the section below. I have the issues. 1. Is public/dispatch.rb the right script to invoke a rails app? If so, what is the right way to invoke dispatch.rb? 2.

PSON and JSON
HI, i''m currently trying to connect a rails app using the "her" gem/library (since active ressource is gone since rails 4) to Puppet''s REST API. Now, "her" or activeressource both speak json, while Puppet speaks pson, which should be nearly the same according to some posts here. Communication already works but it seems that the response objects are not

Camping on Dreamhost - Please Help!
Hi Folks, I''ve been trying to get camping up and running on dreamhost for the past six hours, but have had no success. I''d really appreciate any suggestions! The camping gem is on the dreamhost server, but just to make sure it wasn''t a dependency issue causing all the problems, I installed camping + the full set of dependencies in my own gem directory (both are on the
