DBAN and vesamenu.c32
I'm integrating DBAN (http://dban.sourceforge.net/) into our PXE boot menu system (using vesamenu.c32) but it just hangs when I'm using vesamenu.c32 and confusingly when I revert our menu system to using vesa.c32 it works ok. I've stripped out any extraneous configuration but it still seems to have the same problem. When I use this in pxelinux.cfg it boots into DBAN ok: default

slightly OT: dban
I'm trying to nuke a Dell Optiplex GX620. I've got a perfectly good dban 1.0.4 that I've used a bunch of times... but on this machine, it says starting, then dies, saying "dban has finished with non-fatal errors. Check the log for more information" It never gets to the interactive menu. Now that I've disabled the non-existant floppy drive, at least it does say "to

Support vector model?
Dear All, Apologies for sending this email to both list, but at this point I'm not sure which one could help me the most. I have 4 sets of data, 1 test and 3 different sets of controls. The measurements are binary, with a matrix of 0 and 1 I'm measuring across time (rows, ~815) the behaviour of organelles in the cell by microscopy in response to different stimuli (several measurements

OpenSSH 3.2.3p1 won't compile under IRIX 6.5.14
Previously 3.2.2 would not compile under Solaris, then 3.2.3 came out with a bug fix for the problem. Now 3.2.3 won't compile under IRIX 6.5.14. I've tried using both gcc 3.0.1 and the IRIX MIPSpro 7.1 compilers. I've been compiling previous versions of OpenSSH for years using these same compilers (we haven't updated the MIPSpro compiler for 3 years, and I've been using it on

Compiling OpenSSH 3.4p1 on SunOS 4.1.4

Grouping sets of data, performing function and re-assigning values
Hi there, I hope you have time to read this question and offer a suggestion or two. My basic question is this: I have data in sets of three. I would like to combine the data from each set, perform a function (probably just taking the median and MAD), then re-assign these values to each of the original sets of data. As a bit of background, I have performed a microscopy screen and analyzed

[SUMMARY] Problems with 'last' (when OpenSSH compiled 64-bit)
Problem: 'last' output is incorrect, /var/adm/wtmpx is corrupted. Can't get idmap_ad to work with winbind (only idmap_rid)
Hi! With the end of support for Win XP from many application vendors, we finally decided to go AD with our small domain that right now consists of two XP desktop clients and one Samba PDC (3.6 from official Ubuntu 12.04 packages) that's also offering some file shares and a printer share. Since there already is one FreeBSD server for backup/mirroring, I decided to go all FreeBSD in the

Forensics related ZFS questions
1. Does variable FSB block sizing extend to files larger than record size, concerning the last FSB allocated? In other words, for files larger than 128KB, that utilize more than one full recordsize FSB, will the LAST FSB allocated be ''right-sized'' to fit the remaining data, or will ZFS allocate a full recordsize FSB for the last ''chunk'' of the file? (This is

Memory Forensics of OpenSSH
Hello List, One of my project needs memory forensics of OpenSSH. Here is a brief description of the problem: I have a raw memory dump, and all of the kernel data structures (e.g., task_struct, mm_struct) have been figured out. Now, I want to retrieve the data structures (e.g., struct session_state) of an SSH process instance. Finding a session key (active_state->newkeys) could be an example.

Read-only Guests for Anti-Forensics
Hello. I'm interested in running guests as read-only to turn them into a sort of virtualized "live=cd". The goal is to leave no forensic evidence on the host disk or virtual one which would lead to traces on the host still- similar to how TAILS works but with the added convenince and flexibility of running in a VM. If I set the qcow image to read-only as per the manual, will any

PCA, Source analysis and Unmixing, environmental forensics
I am using R for environmental forensics (determination of the sources and/or groupings in mixtures of organic chemicals in the field). The goal is to determine in there are groups of samples with similar/dissimilar compositions, and to assign samples to a potential source or a mixture of sources based on the composition (unmixing and source allocation). Typically there are 10 to 50 chemicals that

Forensics CD Toolkit for FreeBSD
Hi, I'd like to build a toolkit CD specifically for conducting forensics on FreeBSD. I'm not talking about a bootable CD but rather one that I could pop into a CD ROM drive and run trusted commands like ps, netstat, ls, etc., from. I'd like to build a CD that would work on -RELEASE versions of FreeBSD like 5.1 and -STABLE versions of FreeBSD too. Can anyone give me any pointers
