Amanda 2.3.0.5-Samba 1.9.16p11 PC backups...
At the bottom is what I got returned from AMANDA 2.3.0.5 after patching
Samba 1.9.16p11 to give estimates. Any idea what I might not have done yet?
My disklist reads:
shokk \\thor\depot nocomp-user-gnutar
To connect successfully to that server with smbclient, I have to do this,
giving the same password that I now have in /etc/amandapass:
smbclient \\\\THOR\\DEPOT -U BACKUP

Module question: resources evaluated once or repeatedly?
I''ve been working up my first puppet module, one that will make Amanda
configurations consistently. In general, I''d like the following to happen:
- Each Amanda server should make sure all its holding disks are
configured properly; this should only happen once per server, per
puppetd run. Definitely not on a per-configuration basis.
- Each Amanda server should keep its

New NRPE Puppet module
Hello Puppet Users and Dev,
I have just a pushed a puppet module for NRPE to github. Initially it
supports the Debian, Redhat, and Solaris based operating systems.
I plan on adding FreeBSD support in the near future.
In the meantime I will be updating the documentation and getting it ready
for a forge release.
I would appreciate any feedback or pull requests to add additional
functionality.

Is this a bug in smbclient?
Hi there,
im trying to backup a Windows Server 2003 64Bit with Amanda. It uses the smbclient for backing up a Windows Share.
So far so good, but on large shares I do get a lot of error messages which I can not explain.

[DebugInfo] DWARF C API
Hi folks,
I am trying to implement the C bindings API for DebugInfo::DWARF::DWARFDie.
My goal is to have a C library that reads and parses DWARF debugging format
(just like how llvm-dwarfdump does, but maybe more than just dumping debug
info)
I've started with creating C structure for DebugInfo::DWARF::DWARFContext
which contains all DWARF DIEs in the object file. For this I used

performance issue with UID SEARCH
Hi,
I'm running dovecot 2.2.x and I'm having an issue where I see many
dovecot processes use all the available IO on a server. According to
iotop the worst offenders seem to be in this state (NOTE: I swapped in
phony username & IP info):
dovecot/imap [someusername 123.456.789.012 UID SEARCH]
The server in question is running with Maildirs on top of an XFS
filesystem. Is there

ubuntu package installs
hello puppet list
My puppet server is now working quite wonderfully. Thanks go out to
all who have assisted in getting it to this point. At this point in
time my config is now correctly installing packages according to
arch,os and release. Centos is working quite well as of now, but I am
attempting to get the ubuntu side of things to work as well. I am
frankly more familiar with RHEL under

downgrading packages
After the large update from 7.2 -> 7.3 there is
one major problem, the amanda backup packages.
Strange situation, the host is the amanda server
is working fine at backing up all my remote clients.
But it has an error backing up itself.
The amanda packages did not change version (3.3.3)
and I've done no configuration change.
I'm not looking for help debugging this at the moment.

hey centos
long time no hear! :) I'm having a small issue where the backup jobs
that I set to run in the crontab of the backup user do not appear to
be running. Here's how I set it up (with crontab -e as the backup
user):
run amanda every night (check at 2:45 and backup at 3)

enterprise backup solution (probably amanda?)
Hello guys,
hope i am not making an offtopic
Currently we are looking for storage/backup solution in our company.
Basically we need to backup data incrementaly from windows server and centos
server + subversion repositories.
So far i believe amanda would be best for this situation and also has good
reference.
Is there anything else - i would be glad to have space for research and

amanda and selinux
Anyone familiar with the selinux policy for the
amanda backup software package? I'm getting lots
of data not being backed up. For example, under
/home there are 2 directory trees owned by root.
Those get backed up, user home dirs do not.
No AVC denials nor messages in /var/log/messages
or journalctl log. But if I turn off selinux
enforcing, or set amanda_t type to permissive,
