Filling holes in a FLAC file from an old Vorbis file
I have a partly damaged CD, from which I extracted 192Kb/s Vorbis files
a while ago (before it got damaged) and I'd like to get FLAC files.
`cdparanoia' extracted most of the data from the CD, but there are some
holes due to the damages.
How could I fill those holes in my FLAC files using the Vorbis files?

Theora on 1GHz G4 processor
I'd like to convert my DVD collection to Theora, but discovered that my
good old powerbook (1GHz G4) can't keep up with it (tho a 1.2GHz P-III
has no trouble with it): it seems to need a tiny bit more than 100%
of CPU.
I create my video files with Thoggen, at the largest possible size, with
a quality setting of 50%. And I play them with VLC.
Any hint of what I might want to try to do?

hearing from you .

Correlation question
Hi everyone,
I'm observing what I believe is weird behaviour when attempting to do
something very simple. I want a correlation matrix, but my matrix seems to
contain correlation values that are not found when executed on pairs:
> test2$P2
[1] 2 2 4 4 1 3 2 4 3 3 2 3 4 1 2 2 4 3 4 1 2 3 2 1 3
> test2$HP_tot
[1] 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 136 136 136 136 136 136 136 136 136

Just (another) thought. I used to use SPSS, many, many years ago, on
CDC machines, where the CPU had limited memory and no kind of paging
architecture. Files did

xy.coords(MATRIX) bug in code or documentation (PR#8937)
Hi, people.
xy.coords() does not behave like its documentation says, when given some
matrices. ?xy.coords says:
If 'y' is 'NULL' and 'x' is a [...] formula [...] list [...]
time series [...] matrix with two columns [...]
In any other case, the 'x' argument is coerced to a vector and
returned as *y* component [...]
Now, consider this short

Catalan translation of vorbis-tools
Hi,
I'm currently translating vorbis-tools-1.0.1 into catalan, using UTF8
encoding.
May I continue with it?
How can I submit the .po file?
Thanks.

RNG.c: unif_rand, MARSAGLIA_MULTICARRY (PR#2437)
Full_Name: Richard Simard
Version:
OS: Linux
Submission from: (NULL) (132.204.25.139)
In the random number generator MARSAGLIA_MULTICARRY, your algorithm is
different than the one in the original reference that you give in the R manual:
Marsaglia in his post to the mailing list {\it sci.stat.math} on September 29,
1997.
The last line in the R program has a ^
while Marsaglia's algorithm has

Suggestion for system.time()
Hi, people. A tiny suggestion for the system.time function.
Could the returned vector have names? These could be like:
c("User", "System", "Elapsed", "Sub.User", "Sub.System")
That would then produce self-documenting output.

[Flac-users] flac validation?
hello gang
i'm about to start encoding lots of data (i.e. a 160 GB HDD full of wav
files), and i'm having last minute hesitations about using a fairly new
encoding program (flac).
how much validation has been done on flac? in other words, apart from "it
works", how can i trust that i'm not going to lose my data? i have seen at
least one bug in the bug db where flac

Dear all,
Starting all over again with R-devel of 22-11-2015.

Truncated labels in hist (PR#8864)
Hi, people. Executing the following command:
hist(rpois(100,5), labels=TRUE)
yields a graphic in which some labels are truncated (on an X11 device).
The truncated labels are those over the highest bars. The hist function
should ideally manage enough room for the labels, automatically.
(Specifying ylim solves my problem, but yet, hist could be frienlier.)
