Matrix resampling (bootstraps)
Dear all, I am trying to generate bootstrap replicate matrixes (rows=samples, column=species, sampling with replacement) from a matrix dataset, but I do not know how to do it in R. I have tried boot() and bootstrap(), but they require an statistic, which in my case is cluster analysis (generating bootstrap values for a cluster analysis is a topic that has been mentioned previously in

flatten lists
I am looking for a function to flatten a list to a list of only 1 level deep. Very similar to unlist, however I don't want to turn it into a vector because then everything will be casted to character vectors: x <- list(name="Jeroen", age=27, married=FALSE, home=list(country="Netherlands", city="Utrecht")) unlist(x) This function sort of does it: flatlist

caret - prevent resampling when no parameters to find
I want to use caret to build a model with an algorithm that actually has no parameters to find. How do I stop it from repeatedly building the same model 25 times? library(caret) data(mdrr) LOGISTIC_model <- train(mdrrDescr, mdrrClass ,method='glm' ,family=binomial(link="logit") ) LOGISTIC_model 528

[PATCH] resample: Fix input indexing bug from interleaved functions
From: Jyri Sarha <jsarha at ti.com> This bug happens quite often when resampling from a low to a high sample-rate with big enough factor. Also the resampling call has to be limited by the output buffer size and some unused samples needs be left in the input buffer. Sometimes when up-sampling with a big factor the resampling function wants to peek one more sample from the input buffer to

Good morning Btrfs list, I am trying to create a subvolume of a directory tree (approximately 1.1 million subvolumes under nfs1). The following error is thrown and without the wiki I don''t know what argument is needed. I am running kernel 3.1.0-rc4. linear regression and t-distribution
Hello I have a data set with outlier and it is not normally distributed. I would instead like to use a more robust distribution like t-distribution. My question is if the coefficients of the regression are different from zero, but assuming a t-distribution. Could someone hint me what package to use or.... Thanks in advance Rosario

Passing lists and R memory usage growth
Hello, I can't think of an explanation for this memory allocation behaviour and was hoping someone on the list could help out. Setup: ------ R version 2.8.1, 32-bit Ubuntu 9.04 Linux, Core 2 Duo with 3GB ram Description: ------------ Inside a for loop, I am passing a list to a function. The function accesses various members of the list. I understand that in this situation, the entire

zaptel huge irq problem
Hello, I had noticed strange crackling sound on my phone calls going through my zaptel device (TDM400P), so i decided to check on possible timer issue, and found lots of issues on forums concerning the sensibility of zaptel with IRQs, and tried about everything: moving PCI slots, noapic and acpi=off boot options, play with different kernel options: iosched/preemption/timer/..., play with

persp()
Hello I am trying to draw a basic black and white map of two European countries. After searching some key words in google and reading many pages I arrived to the conclusion that persp() could be used to draw that map. I have prepared three small example files, which are supposed to be the files required for running that function. xvector is a vector with the longitudes yvector is a vector with

[SPAM] RE: Encoding audio sampled at 44.1 khz?
________________________________ Hi David, Thank you very much for your reply. Since I need to resample the audio in the program itself, I decided to try out the resampling API in speex. But now, I have another problem. The resampled sound is very much distorted and clicks appear quite often. (I have attached the source code I used for testing it below). The test data I had was a file sampled

Resampling Stats software
Hi, I am new to R (I have most of my experience in SAS and SPSS). I was wondering if anyone has used both Resampling Stats and R, and could comment on strengths/relationships. Also, I have no clue on how to do the various examples from the book "Resampling: The New Statistics" in R. Can anyone give me some possible starting points? Or websites/books? Thanks, Brandon

Survival Plots by Strata
All, I am struggling to create a survival plot using LTRC data for each year of a 10 year period. I have a set of individuals (birds) where 'entry' is the day of the year (1-365) they are released (let out of pens) into the wild (2 year data snip below). 'Entry' (e.g., day of year the first bird is released for each year) is highly variable, ranging from 48 to >250. When I
