VM Remote access options
Just to error test my own thinking here, there seems to be the following options for remote graphical access to a running domian vm. Besides the normal network service via a port and a raw console, the options are straight X, VNC, and XN. X - supports a single X window running on a local XServer, tied to a single process on the remote system. No remote desktop VNC - comes in two flavors of

NetworkManager under CentOS 4 *without* GNome...
I have been *manually* dealing with my wired and wireless network interfaces on my laptop. I have a pair of config files (in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/: ifcfg-eth0 (wired: Intel Corporation 82540EP Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Mobile)) and ifcfg-eth1 (wireless: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter), both with USERCTL=true (and ifcfg-eth0 also has ONBOOT=true). I have

Xvnc from tightvnc crashing
Hi all, I am having issues with running tightvnc-server on a CentOS 5.1 x86_64 machine (currently up-to-date, kernel 2.6.18-53.1.6.el5). Occasionally, the Xvnc instance will just crash, taking with it everything that I was running. When it crashes, it seems to do so when I try to open some GUI program. So, for instance, I click on a shortcut to open a program, and poof, it crashes. But it does

intel quad gigabit nic and pci passthrough
Hi all I have a very weird case of pci passthrough. I have a machine with 7 network interfaces, all of them intel. Four of them are on one quad giga ethernet device. If I manually unbind the devices and allow qemu to use them, with intel IOMMU working, everything works like a charm. Here's how I do it manually: root@kybrat (x86_64) ~]$ lspci -nn | grep net 00:19.0 Ethernet controller

Fatal server error: DMA queue hang
Greetings. I have an aging GeForce4 MX ( integrated ). I just updated to Ubuntu-8.10 without considering the consequences of moving to xserver-1.5. Needless to say I won't be using Compiz for a while now ... So I've tried to get nouveau drivers running ( I've been watching the project, but mainly waiting for a release ... now my hand has been forced ). I used the packages for Ubuntu
