introducing puppetboard 0.0.1
Hello everyone,
It’s a lovely grey and rainy day here in the Dutch summer, as good a day as
any to release a new little project.
Its name is Puppetboard and has as aim to replace Puppet Dashboard’s
reporting functionality. It does not nor will it include ENC features. It
does all this without storing any data itself but querying PuppetDB instead.
The whole thing is built in Python and

Facts and Stored Configs
So finally playing with PuppetDB and have to say its impressive. Planning
on extending it slightly to be a CMDB. With that in mind, we produce test
systems for developers to test the equipment they are developing on. So
these systems are rapidly deployed then torn down. A requirement has been
given to me to keep a snap shot of the systems and there configuration, so
identical systems can be

puppet dashboard inventory
I have a puppet master install which uses puppetdb. I also have puppet
dashboard installed with the inventory service running. I want multiple
puppet masters using a single puppetDB server. Puppetdb is installed on
separate vm.
How can I get the dashboard inventory to use the puppetdb server to get the
inventory records? Where do I configure the dashboard inventory so it uses
puppetdb?

Adding Foreman to an existing Puppet master
Greetings:
Sorry for cross-posting this question, but I haven''t gotten any love
over on the Google Forum for Foreman users<https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/foreman-users> (their
forum isn''t as active as this one). I only recently learned about The
Foreman and I''d like to deploy it on a 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 LTS workstation
to provision/manage a bunch of

Actual diffs in puppetdb?
Any plans to get the actual diffs of file changes into puppetdb? Right now
you get the hashes of the buckets on the host, but if diffs could get into
puppetdb, it could be extremely useful.

puppet-foreman
Hi,
I created a centOS6 EC2 instance last night and ran the foreman puppet module but it came back with a few years. Was hoping somebody could help me understand these errors.

puppetdb, foreman, one particular node has a problem
I have about 75 nodes now and recently added 6 of them. They are all
running Debian squeeze and all have exactly the same Puppet packages. One
is giving an error when I try to enroll it:

why enterprise puppet does not use stored config and puppetdb
I just installed PE, and notice that it does not use either stored
config nor puppetdb. It uses the activerecord to store facts in a
mysql db.
Why puppetlabs let us to use these but they do not use them in their
enterprise version?
Thanks.

Managing /etc/hosts without using exported resources
Hi All,
I am using Puppet 3.2.4 and I''d like Puppet to manage /etc/hosts for me and
add "neighbouring hosts" only to /etc/hosts. These hosts are determined to
be neighbours based on where they are (city/country).
For example ($::city and $::country are custom facts):
@@host { $::fqdn:
ip => $::ipaddress,
host_aliases => [ $::hostname ],

Foreman and Puppet managing templates question
Hi,
I have just started to use Foreman 1.1. I have been using Puppet for a
while and have some custom modules and ones that have been dragged down
from git etc.
I am using nodes.pp in Puppet to assign classes and template entries to
hosts.
So is Foreman meant to eliminate my need for a nodes.pp? How do I manage my
erb templates in Puppet without a nodes.pp?
Thanks,

How to remove a node from Puppet CA, Puppet DB from a remote host
I need to programmatically remove cert from Puppet master and remove all
information in Puppet DB for a node from another machine which is neither
Puppet Master or PuppetDB. It does have a Puppet signed cert since it is
also provisioned using Puppet.
I can''t find any decent documentation on this. I am using the Community
Edition.
Any pointers / help is appreciated.

Problem retreiving catalog
I updated some of my gems, and I think it may be the reason I am getting
the following error when the agents try to retrieve a catalog.
err: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: Error 400 on SERVER:

''Host::Managed''. This error is raised because the column ''type'' is reserved

Exported resources not in the catalog
Hi,
I''m trying to use Puppet ability to export and collect resources using
PuppetDB.
My PuppetDB and Puppet Master are running on the same host and I used the
PuppetDB puppet module to install PuppetDB and configure the Puppet master.
Each time the puppet agent runs on a client, the facts and the catalog are
being pushed in PuppetDB and I can query the PuppetDB server to get

trouble w/ Foreman as ENC, agents and environments
Hi,
I have a Puppet Enterprise (2.0) puppetmaster running with Foreman,
and having trouble getting it working as an External Node Classifier.
In short, if I manually add a test client into site.pp, it will
retrieve the proper catalog / classes, but I would like to avoid
having to do that. I''m also using environments (production/testing/
development) as well, but think I have most of

modifying declared user/group types without resorting to inheritance?
Hello,
I have number of classes that deal with user management and I''ve run into a
snag with needing to extend/modify either the user or group types. I''m
using theforeman as an ENC.
The class structure I have is something like the following.
users::common
users::dev
users::prod
etc...
users::{dev, prod} do not use inheritance. Almost all node include
users::common.
