Pure Ruby HTTP parser
Before anything else, let me state this: Of course it''s going to be PAINFULLY slow on MRI. That''s not the point :) I thought I''d try out writing out a Ruby version of the parser for the purposes of Rubinius. For those of you who aren''t aware, Ragel supports a goto-driven FSM on Rubinius by injecting assembly directly, and Rubinus head honcho guy Evan Phoenix

Ebb Web Server
Hello Mongrel Users, I''m writing a web server called Ebb. It''s written in C, makes use of the Mongrel HTTP parser, and uses libev its event loop. The goal is to be small, fast, and language independent server that can host web frameworks. I have written a small Ruby binding which provides a Rack handler - this will allow Ebb to host Rails, Merb, and other Ruby frameworks. In the

HTTP Parser (Regal)
Hi I was interested to see how Mongrel uses Lex/Yacc to parse the HTTP requests using a Regal generated parser. I downloaded the source but do not see the lex and yacc files...

Mongrel Web Server 0.3.12 -- Finally Out
Hello Folks, This is the long awaited (like 2 weeks) 0.3.12 release of Mongrel. This release has received heavier testing than previous releases and supports a whole raft of improvements to existing functionality plus some new stuff. For those not clued in, Mongrel is a web server written in (mostly) Ruby. Check the funny dogs and read the docs about it at http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/. The

Broken installation of mongrel 0.3.13.4 on Sun OS 5.9
Hi, Anyone succeeded in installing Mongrel on Sun Solaris? It looks like the installation is broken. I have started using Mongrel recently and not sure where to look when something is missing. First the file http11.so was not installed in /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/mongrel-0.3.13.4/lib I''ve resolved that and when tried to start mongrel from the command line I received the

Mongrel grammar file
Hey Zed, any chance you mind sharing the grammar file you use with lemon to create the parser? I''ve been meaning to sit down and learn how to use one of those things. If not, any suggestions on a good resource for learning how to use a LALR parser?

X-Forwarded-Proto / X_FORWARDED_PROTO
Eric, think I came across an issue with the parser in unicorn, with a request (due to 2 layers of nginx proxying) coming across with both a X_FORWARDED_PROTO and a X-Forwarded-Proto header. From the socket (in HttpRequest) - we get: X_FORWARDED_PROTO: http X-Forwarded-Proto: https which is parsed to HTTP_X_FORWARDED_PROTO"=>"http,https There was a passenger ticket that

problem starting mongrel
Apologies for the formatting, but this is the error I get when I try to start up mongrel. The app does work under webrick, so I''m not real sure what''s going on here. Thanks for any insight into what''s going on. -j ** Starting Mongrel listening at 0.0.0.0:3000 /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/mongrel-0.3.13.3/lib/mongrel.rb:666:in `register'': undefined method

Documentation Day!
I''m spending today writing documentation. I''ll be updating quite a few documents, doing some edits, and adding some user contributed docs. If anyone has documentation suggestions, FAQ questions they''d like included, or things they think are old and stale, then let me know. mongrel parser for server response
I''m taking a stab at creating a parser to parse the server response using the mongrel parser as a base. Never having used a parser like Ragel before in my life, I''d like some input on the following for parsing an http server response. This is part of my modified version of http11_parser.rl. In particular what would be better than using ''any'' to match the

[ADV] "Mongrel: Serving, Deploying, and Extending Your Ruby Applications" BOOK
Time for some all time pimpage folks. Me and Matt Pelletier wrote a small PDF book on Mongrel entitled: "Mongrel: Serving, Deploying, and Extending Your Ruby Applications" since we really wanted you to know what it was about. It''s published by Addison Wesley Professional, has just over 100 pages of goodness, and is available for $14.99 at: http://safari.oreilly.com/0321483502

Mongrel Cluster: Rolling restart?
Hi all, Forgive me if this has been asked before, but is there a reason mongrel_rails cluster::restart stops all ports and then restarts them again? Wouldn''t it be better to restart each port one-by-one in series so that upstream proxy servers can fail over while the restart is occurring, or am I missing something? Thanks, eden

Mongrel 1.0.1 Officially Released
Alright folks, after nearly a month of pounding and beating up the Mongrel 1.0 RC1 release we''re putting out the official 1.0.1 release. Read all about it at the (much funnier) news posting: http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/news.html For those people in a hurry, the gems should hit the mirrors and you can install using your usual commands. Refer the the above page for more help.

linking modules - add needed libraries
Hi Hopefully this is the correct mailing list. Sorry if not. I am still fighting to install "shiny" on Solaris OS. For this I need the package 'httpuv' which makes troubles during linking. R version 3.0.1 (2013-05-16) -- "Good Sport" is working well. The compile steps result is below. I have more a general question. The problem is clear: The symbol

This GemPlugin will gzip your HTTP responses from mongrel if the client says that it supports it (eg, most modern browsers). I''ve tested it in IE6, Firefox 1.5 and Firefox 2.0RC3 Install: gem install gzip_filter --source http://edenli.com Configure (assuming rails): cd RAILS_ROOT echo ''uri "/", :handler => plugin("/handlers/gzipfilter")''

Mongrel dying daily with Ruby 1.8.6
Hi guys, I''ve been running mongrel for a while now with Ruby 1.8.4, and last week upgraded to 1.8.6. Since upgrading, each morning when I wake up there''s a big problem: 1. Accessing the site returns a "500 Internal Server Error" 2. All the mongrel_rails processes are still running, but none of them are active (when I run top) 3. Lighttpd and pound are still
