SolidWorks 2013 performance problems
Hi,
We're having performance problems with SolidWorks on our shares.
Copying the entire entire solidworks project to local disk and opening
from there takes around 30s, but opening from the share directly takes
minutes.
Apparently solidworks knowledge base has this to say about Samba:
> The official policy with regards to Linux Samba is that our legal department has advised us that the

Tinc-up and Windows...
Hello,
I've used tinc successfully for a long time, all with Linux hosts. No
problem there.
Unfortunately I now have to add a Windows host to the VPN. What a fight
Winblows is! Probably just my ignorance.
The VPN works and tinc says that tinc-up is run (and a debugging
statement proves it) but I can't get an extra route added.
tinc-up.bat contains:

PMB.exe Error when Installing League of Legends
I'm using the terminal commands from http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=19141
The LeagueofLegends.exe starts fine, but when it gets to the part where it starts Pando Media Booster, I get a Program Error saying "The program PMB.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Under that it says: "This

how to install "missing" netsh.exe using commands?
After trying to install Tunngle on Wine I came upon this error:

I have scoured the internet for a fix for this problem to no avail. It seems it isn't just the program I'm using, it's a fairly common(ish) problem.
The closest I came was with this forum here:

dual gateway with routing issues and tinc-up and host-up scripts for windows clients?
Hello everybody,
I am doing some test with TINC and Windows 7 and I am having some issues
with routing. (see attachment for the client configuration)
The set-up I configured uses DHCP over the TINC tunnel and the Windows
guests ends up with two gateways (one from its own network and one from
the TINC network).
The problem is that traffic when browsing the internet should go over
the TINC tunnel

TINC - sometimes working a bit
Hello everyone!
I'm trying to get tinc running, but couldn't make it until now...
My current situation is: all tincs are connected, but there ist (almost) no traffic: Only two PCs are able to ping to another, but not to itself.
Let me explain, what I'm planning to do:
I've got four networks:
PROM: 10.69.0.0/16
PAN: 192.168.30.0/24 (I'm afraid, I can't change PAN to

Response time on Tinc VPNs, Bandwith on Tinc-VPN
Hello,
response time: how is it possible to increase the response time on Tinc VPNs. When I use tinc over a fast or giga-bit network connection the ping-response time is normally about 1800 to 2000 ms. Sometimes I get ping response times at about 2.500 to 3.000 ms over a normal Ethernet Connection or a television-cable connection within the same providers-network in the same city. The ping-time

Re: [advocacy] current tshirt/slogan submissions
Two notes on my T-shirt design...
Had I known there was an official logo/font for the Ogg Vorbis and Xiph I
would have used it. Sorry if this causes any problems. :o)
#ifdef Stand_on_SoapBox
As for the phenomenon vs. standard I think I may want to explain. It seems
that whenever the media reports on Ogg (or ANY open source project for that
matter) they often use the word phenomenon to

Puppet on Windows 2003 Server > wrong IP via facter?
Hello!
I''m just getting started working with Puppet and testing on a Windows 2003
server. When I run facter on this server it returns a wrong value for the
ipaddress (should be 10.10.0.203, but facter sets ipaddress=10.0.0.203). As
you can see from the following ipconfig output, facter is looking at the
TELECOM Ethernet adapter instead of the adapter used for the local domain

CentOS 6.4 Samba 3.6.9 Regression
Anyone know the reason RHEL bumped Samba from 3.5.10 to 3.6.9? This version
has a regression with BackupExec and Veeam backing up to network shares. I
receive access denied errors. Samba is in security=user mode and not joined
to a domain. If I downgrade just the Samba packages to the CentOS 6.3
version 3.5.10 everything works again. I've found a couple of bug reports
and the one suggested fix

Error Join Machine in Domain - Samba 4 Debian Jessie
Hi guys:
After a power outage, one machine network does not enter the field more.
The machine is a Windows 7 Professional. I have a Samba 4 server as the PDC.
Every time I try to join in the Domain this machine is a user error and
password on your computer, however they are correct. I have 15 machines in
the field and only this machine with this problem. Already excludes account

OpenSSH on Windows, ssh cannot |bind()| localport to port < 1023
Hi!
----
I'm doing some testing with the ssh client OpenSSH on Windows 10
(10.0-19045) but due to firewall restrictions I need to run my
experiments from a local port < 1024 (not negotiable).
I thought that this was no problem... but ssh |bind()| fails with
"address in use" (yes, I checked netstat, no one is there) for any
port < 1023.
Then I checked $ netstat # and $ netsh

Windows clients cannot print in color
I have a Samba 3.0.22 server running as "security = ADS" on a Debian
Sarge 3.1 system and operating as expected. I recently added print
server functions via CUPS 1.2.1. The drivers appear to install properly
on the clients. Test pages print flawlessly from the CUPS server, but
will only print grayscale from the Windows 2000/XP clients. It is a
universal phenomenon, applying to

ECHO Tutorial
Is there anyone that could explain to me the phenomenon of Echo or at
least point me where I can learn more? Why is this affecting the VoIP
world so much and not the regular PSTN analog world? What does the
PSTN industry have that they can handle such high volume of calls and
there is "no" echo problem?
Thanks,

Mail server problem?
I keep getting repeated copies of ``R-help post acknowledgements'' in
respect
of a couple of postings that I made to the list this morning (my time).
I only posted each posting *once*. I hope that others are not getting
repeated copies of my postings .... I mean I *know* my postings are so
wonderful they merit re-reading, but one does not need another copy
in order
to re-read! :-)

"if" within a function
Dear Friends.
I found a puzzling phenomenon in R when you use 'if' within a function:
# defining a function aaa
aaa=function(a)
{if (a==1) {aaa=1};
if (a!=1) {aaa=2}
}
# using the function:

Abysmal performance with Samba 4 and Windows Explorer
I'm experiencing extremely slow performance when trying to copy files from
and to a samba 4 share. I'm using Debian and the Samba 4 SerNet packages
and everything is up to date on the client as well as on the server. The
connection is made through 100Mbp/s ethernet, but the problem also exists
on a local virtual machine that runs on the Debian server.
By extremely I mean really abysmal:
