can't turn off password complexity requirements
Hello,
I'm unsing Ubuntu 14.4 Server and samba 4.1.6-Ubuntu. Everything
works great but I somehow fail to switch off the password complexity
requirements. It is not unlikely that this is because I'm very
unexperienced with Windows. I've heard that the password-settings are
always a bit tricky and I did exactly what the windows-tutorials say.
I've tried gpresult for

Force password complexity on NT4 style domain (Samba 4.6.4)
Hi,
is there a way to force password complexity on NT4 style domains?
the "samba-tool domain passwordsettings" seems to only work on DC
mode, right?

user login passwords are mixed up
Thank you! That was the hint I needed with 4.2 and ""Bad Password Lockout

I did it via samba-tool this time and not via GPO with RSAT.

samba-tool domain passwordsettings show

Disable password complexity does not work?
Hello
I use Samba 4.0.9 and want to disable strong passwords. I've run:
./samba-tool domain passwordsettings set --complexity=off
But it seems to not work. If users try to change password via
ctrl+alt+del windows still require strong password. Restarting samba to
commit change did not solve problem.
Is there something i forgot? On my old configuration with old (RIP)
server it worked

Password complexity checks and local users...
AFAI've understood 'samba-tool domain passwordsettings' set domain
password settings, while the GPO equivalent settings is for the client
(windows client and server os).
Currently i've enabled password complexity checks server side:

Samba 4 Password Policies
Hi Folks,
I am relative new to samba 4, not so new to Samba, but I have a problem
with password policies.
So I set a password policy (Maximum password age) in RSAT for the Default
Domain Policy, but this policy was not applied to my domain, even after the
command gpupdate /all and after rebooting the samba server. (I am using
samba version 4.9.0)
So I discovered in the samba server that the

Confusion about account locking policy (Samba AD/Windows 7 client)
Hi,
here on the wiki
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/FAQ#Is_it_possible_to_set_user_specific_password_policies_in_Samba4_.28e._g._on_a_OU-base.29.3F
I read this:
"Is it possible to set user specific password policies in Samba4 (e.
g. on a OU-base)?
Samba can't handle GPO restrictions. You have to use 'samba-tool domain
passwordsettings' to change password policies.

Question about splitting AD and fileserving (and tons of other stuff)
Hello, I am wondering if this is preferred at this iteration in
development. If so, what would be the best way to continue? To build a VM
server and have that do file serving, then migrate file serving from the
old ad, then join the new VM to the ad server? Vice versa?
My reasoning; running sernet (Version 4.0.12-SerNet-Ubuntu-8.precise) with
Ubuntu 12.0.2 and since deployment in three different

Passwordsettings
As Rowland points out, that password already meets the complexity
criteria, so I don't think Password Settings Objects (PSOs) will help
here. PSOs allow you to tailor different passwordsettings for different
users, i.e. turn complexity on or off for specific users. PSOs don't let
you customize the criteria that determines whether a password is complex
or not.
So you could use PSOs to

Password Policy - how to reduce password complexity
HI,,
im really new with samba 4. Great work. Thanks to the team.
But right now a question I havent solved form the faq.
Can I use the Group Policy - Computer - Account - Password Policy
to restrict the password complexity ? It seems not. I use the Windows 7 remote Admin tools to write a valid policy but it seems its not activated or used.
