USB-3.0 on C6.5 ??
Just wondering if there are any known issues with USB 3.0 storage devices in Centos 6.5?? I just got one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817332028 it does either esata or USB 3.0. My new motherboard (ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0) supports both, so I've tried both (of course, can't have a feature without at least giving it a whirl! :)). esata seems to work fine, I

Lockups with kernel-2.6.32-358.0.1.el6.i686
I updated my home server with the 6.4 CR packages, and I've experienced 3 or 4 hard lockups since. The server is a fanless VIA C7 "CentaurHauls" system with a 1GHz CPU underclocked to 800MHz and 1GB of RAM. It has a dual-port Intel 82546GB NIC in its single PCI slot. (It also has an on-board Realtek RTL-8110SC/8169SC NIC that is plugged in, but doesn't currently have an IP

plug in phones, speaker does not mute.
Hi all! Using C6 on an Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 motherboard with AMD six core FX6300. That board uses Realtek ALC892 audio chipset. For the first time since I got that motherboard I tried plugging in headphones to the front panel speaker output. I was somewhat displeased to note that the speakers don't mute when that happens. I recall seeing info on that in Fedora, but not Centos, and

Centos-compatible motherboards
Hi all! I'm toying with the idea of spending some Christmas money on a new MB and CPU to upgrade my desktop. Although I've always been partial to AMD chips, I'm tempted this time to find something Intel-ish, I5, quad core, or so. In looking at mommyboards at New Egg and Amazon, I find so many I am unable to make reasonable determinations regarding suitability, so am hoping some of

Odd behavior on Phenom II X6
I built a new box for home use, it is an ASUS M5A99X EVO 990X, the CPU is the 1075T 3.0Ghz AM3. I have 16 gigs of 1333 RAM, it is Patriot brand non - ECC. The disk is a 1TB Western Digital SATA II 3.0 mbps. I am using a USB DVD drive to do the install When I attempt to install either a generic CentOS install, it gives a Kernel panic and dies, the error says something about CPU0 and it reboots

motherboard for cents 6.3
Seems like overnight every motherboard that worked with linux has DROPPED off the face of the earth. Every motherboard I looked at is using the realtek 8111 chipset and a northbridge that is not supported. Example: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3, does not work with linux I tried disabling the onboard NIC and using a PCI-E intel card I always use and that would not work either. The north or south bridge

AMD IOMMU disabled - No Perdev Intremap
Hi! From other people posting to this list, I know that there has been a bug related to the issue described in Xen Security Advisory 36 that disables iommu for some AMD users like me. However, even when passing "iommu=no-amd-iommu-perdev-intremap" it still disables i/o virtualisatoin. Related Xen dmesg output: (XEN) IVHD Error: Invalid IO-APIC 0 (XEN) AMD-Vi: Error initialization

Kernel Panic post kernel-2.6.32-504.23.4.el6.x86_64
Greetings, Today, I decided to reboot one of my CentOS machines after it had been running for 219 days. In this time, I had done yum updates several times. When I tried rebooting the machine, none of the kernels would work except for the oldest one. Here are the installed kernels: kernel-2.6.32-504.23.4.el6.x86_64 kernel-2.6.32-573.3.1.el6.x86_64 kernel-2.6.32-573.7.1.el6.x86_64

CentOS-7 on a USB stick
I tried dd-ing the ISO onto a USB stick, as suggested in <http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOS7>, but it didn't boot. Did anyone have better luck with this? In any case, I got it working by running livecd-iso-to-disk on a Fedora-20 laptop. I've found before that this is the best program around for the purpose. But I've 2 queries about this: 1. Why isn't this

I would not have expected this behavior now (last phase of OS). It was very robust until now (Optiplex Workstation). I see some KVM related lines in the changelog.diff. Broadcom BCM4313 support broken with kernel 2.6.32-573.7.1.el6.centos.plus.x86_64?
Hello, I noticed that with latest kernel (2.6.32-573.7.1.el6.centos.plus.x86_64), my laptop's Wifi doesn't work, whereas with previous kernel (2.6.32-504.30.3.el6.centos.plus.x86_64), it works fine. Is this a known issue or did I miss something new? BTW, `lspci` says: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01) Regards, -- wwp -------------- next part
