help for a loop procedure
Hello everybody! I’m trying to define the optimal number of surveys to detect the highest number of species within a monitoring season/session. To do this I want to run all the possible combinations between a set of samples and to calculate the total number of species for each combination of 2, 3, 4 …n samples events, so that at the end I will be able to define which is the lowest number of

samba4 readiness
i wanted to setup a samba4 domain, however i had a couple of questions: 1. i was thinking of using centos, however was curious what linux distro most people use. ie what most of the samba4 documentation is written for? 2. i had read that there isn't much support for user land programs for setting up samba4 and account administration, and that swat isn't emplimented yet; how dated / acurate

Fwd: making the passphrase prompt more clear
This got me thinking, shouldn't this go through PAM so that password strength restrictions can be set as well? Obviously most ssh keys are created locally. But, if this were implemented, I think most distros would adopt the same strength criteria on this as they do with passwd and the like. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Daniel Kahn Gillmor <dkg at fifthhorseman.net>

ssh_config "database"/"sort"able format?
Hi there, I'm in a situation where some of my clients have all these obscurity things with ssh, like putting it on a different port, or a different user to login for this specific host not mention several don't have proper DNS names and and and. Life is to short to debate it with the client so rather get in line, use ssh_config, and continue to serve the client. However, now I have the

SOA on rails...
We are in the process of evaluating new development frameworks for our future development platform. We currently use php and are evaluating Java, Ruby, Mono and .NET. We really like Ruby but unfortunately, we are having a hard time implementing our layered Service Oriented Architecture using Ruby due to the view being tightly bound to the ActiveRecord objects. Although we love all the great

redirect_to broken?
Is ActionController''s redirect_to method broken by Facebooker? When I try to invoke it and execute through apps.facebook.com, I get a blank page returned, response code 200, no redirect. When I try to connect directly to the server (not through apps.fb), I get the infinite recursion error described minutes ago. Are any of you able to use redirect_to successfully, and if so, any ideas

Performance of low quality / low sample rate
Hi everyone. I did a rough recording of an instrumental (electric piano sound) & e-mailed it to a friend in Vorbis 11025 Hz / mono. I was seeking a bitrate in the range 8-16k/sec. The song is 2:55 in length. q=-1 happily achieved a 12.6k/sec bitrate. All file sizes I mention in this are for files without informational tags. And I hope this isn't interpreted as trying to plug my music or

Here''s the fix for Facebook apps that specify a controller in their callback URLs. First, set this variable in your environment scripts: ENV[''FACEBOOKER_CALLBACK_PATH''] = ''/controller'' # where controller is the name of your Facebook controller And then patch vendor/plugins/facebooker/lib/facebooker/rails/facebook_url_rewriting.rb as shown in the
