puppet dashboard inventory
I have a puppet master install which uses puppetdb. I also have puppet
dashboard installed with the inventory service running. I want multiple
puppet masters using a single puppetDB server. Puppetdb is installed on
separate vm.
How can I get the dashboard inventory to use the puppetdb server to get the
inventory records? Where do I configure the dashboard inventory so it uses
puppetdb?

Are storeconfigs without puppetDB possible?
I''m doing some testing with the puppetlabs/haproxy module on a vagrant box
with puppet 3 set up. The module we use requires exported resources to be
enabled in order to specify haproxy backends, but I don''t have it
configured in puppet. I have our puppet repo checked out to the VM and am
using puppet apply, pointed at the specific module path we use for
development, to

puppet does not see changes in /etc/puppet/puppet.conf
I did a fresh install on Ubuntu 12.04 with apt packages from puppet labs. I
have agents talking to my puppetmaster.
Puppetmaster is running apache/passenger connected to puppetdb and
puppet-dashboard is setup to use puppetdb but it is not able to see any
reports submitted to puppetdb.
When an agent connects to master I see :

Client vs server storeconfigs
Hi all,
As I understand it, storeconfigs needs to be enabled on both the agent
and the master to function ideally. I have a couple of questions:
-> Can the various agents and the master safely share the same
storeconfigs db (say, a postgresql server)? Is there any benefit to
setting things up
this way?
-> Is there any benefit for an _agent_ to use an RDBMS vs sqlite for

Storeconfigs and nagios and foreman
All-
Poking around in the bug database it looks like storeconfigs is being
actively worked on. I am using 2.7.6 on my master as well as all the
clients. I have clients boot , start puppet and get a signed cert via
auto signing. The nagios module (and currently the only thing puppet
does) complains a lot during compile time about not having
storeconfigs enabled, which is not the case in my

mysql or postgresql
Hi!
Which database would you recommend to use mysql or postgresql for
puppet?
Estimated number of nodes 30000, they send reports every 30 minutes.
Thanks

Can't find a supported method of using storeconfigs on AWS
I can''t seem to find a sane way of running storeconfigs on the new AWS
server environment I''m working on.
- SQLite is not an option. It becomes unusable far too quickly.
- Using a mysql adapter doesn''t seem to work properly.
- I quickly run into bug #9290<http://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/9290>again and again. Which after 2 years STILL

PuppetDB HA
Hello,
I would like to ask what to pay attention to, when someone wants to set up
multiple PuppetDB instances (and point them to the same DB), and put them
behind a proxy/load balancer, as mentioned in the documentation<http://docs.puppetlabs.com/puppetdb/1/scaling_recommendations.html#bottleneck-single-point-of-failure>
.
Can this cause some concurrency issues with the message queues?

PuppetDB & KahaDB db.data leak
Hi all,
I''ve been looking at a potential problem, as documented here:
http://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/19241
To do with a leak within the KahaDB persistence layer of ActiveMQ.
Specifically, there are reports of the db.data file growing unbounded:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMQ-3956
I''m hoping to find out information from other PuppetDB users to see if

Any benefit with running async_storeconfigs
Hi all,
I currently am using puppet with storeconfigs and am quite happy with the results. I also see that there is now the option of having async_storeconfigs. What I''m wondering about is the following:
1. What benefit is there to running async_storeconfigs over storeconfigs?
2. In what scenario''s would async provide a benefit to standard storeconfigs?
3. What are the typical

Puppet Agent VS User
Hello,
Running into a problem when wanting to daemon-ize the agent. It doesnt
seems to do anything:
- cannot find any daemon process with (ps aux | grep puppet)
- the config is not updated after editing some params on the master
- /var/log/puppet stay empty...
while, when logged as root, it is working without issue with $puppet agent
--test.

Announce: PuppetDB 0.9.0 (first release) is available
PuppetDB, a component of the Puppet Data Library, is a centralized storage
daemon for auto-generated data. This initial release of PuppetDB targets the
storage of catalogs and facts:
* It’s a drop-in, 100% compatible replacement for storeconfigs
* It’s a drop-in, 100% compatible replacement for inventory service
* It hooks into your Puppet infrastructure using Puppet’s pre-existing

'puppet storeconfigs export' killed
Hi,
I currently have a MySQL database containing all Puppet storeconfigs. My
intention is to migrate to PuppetDB on a PostgreSQL server, so the first
step is to use the ''storeconfigs'' face to export all the DB to a file
PuppetDB can later consume. But the ''puppet storeconfigs export'' command
always ends up being killed, I suspect due to some sort of OOM

Puppet/Nagios/PuppetDB slow performance
Hi all,
For months now I''ve been using Puppet with PuppetDB backend to manage my
Nagios configs. We now have 1200+ services being checked and including
servicedependency, host, hostdependency, command and other Nagios
resources being managed, that''s about 3000 resources in total.
Unfortunately this means the monitoring server takes about 8 minutes to
perform a Puppet run.
