Reading JPEG file, converting to HEX
Colleagues, I am using R to assemble RTF documents (which are plain text). I need to embed a JPEG graphic that was created with R. I presume that the steps need to be: a. read the file into R b. convert the object to HEX format c. write the converted object to a textfile. If I read the file into R using readLines, I get the following (only the first 5 lines shown): > >

[PATCH 1/2] Add type checking, support integers as value
Before this patch, Python would segfault once you pass a non-string key or value to node_set_value. It was also not possible to set bytes on Python 3 as Unicode was assumed (Python 2 was not affected by this). This patch fixes recognition of bytes for Python 3, but in addition it recognizes ints (includes 'long' in Python 2) for DWORD (LE + BE) and QWORDs. For this purpose, a new field

How to replace German umlauts in strings?
Dear R-users, I have a file containing names of German students. These names contain the characters "?", "?" or "?" (German umlauts). I use read.table() to read the file and let's assume the table is then stored in a variable called "data". The names are then contained in the first column, i.e. data[,1]. Now if I simply display the variable

UTF-8 patch for Samba 2.0.7
See description in the attached patch. -------------- next part -------------- This quick hack adds primitive support of UTF-8 as a server 'character set' to Samba 2.0.7. All file, share and user names are stored on server in UTF-8, and translated into client code page (not UCS2) on the fly. Additionally, server string conversion is added. Tested with Chinese and Russian Windows clients.

RV: LATENCY PROBLEMS
Hello there, I''m having lots of problems with my setup here. Let me explain: I am network administrator for my university dorm. We are about 300 users, and we have 2 ADSL connections doing load balancing with 300kbits upstream and 2Mbit downstream. The load balancing is working great, we are doing connection tracking so I can mark and hence prioritize interactive traffic and ACKS

WinAmp plug-in based on RC1?
Hi, I just downloaded this and it says it's based on RC1 in the about box. Is that a typo or is the plug-in not updated? [LLVMdev] Instruction sets requiring more than 3 operands
Hello. I am making a LLVM backend for a new architecture XCC. During implementation of instructions for XCC, I found that there are instructions need more than 3 operands in the target language manual. I could implement insructions need 1, 2 or 3 operands thanks to the examples in the LLVM backends already offered by you guys. But, I am not sure about those kind of instructions needs many number

HELP ON SCALING GENE EXPRESSION DATA TO -1,0,1
Hello R-Community, I am a rookie in R and I am fascinated with the power of bio computing by R. I am analysing gene expression data from Real time PCR. I have used absolute gene quantitation to measure gene copy number in all my transcripts. All my data has been normalised them to a housekeeping gene, which is constitutive expressed. My problem is as follows. After normalising some of the genes

Rebuilding a Centos 6.2 netinstall initrd with an updated driver?
Hi all, It seems that with the release of the X99 motherboards, a lot of vendors are shifting away from using Realtek ethernet on board NICs and using Intel. Our main distro. on the floor is Centos 6.2 for numerous reasons. Efforts are being made toward 7.1, but not there yet. Anyway, the new Intel NICs are recognised by Centos 6.6 netinstall ISO when booting, but not Centos 6.2. I have had the

Linux NLSPATH buffer overflow (fwd)
[Mod: Forwarded from bugtraq -- alex] Hi! I''m sorry if the information I''m going to tell about was already known, but I hope it wasn''t... I just occasionally found a vulnerability in Linux libc (actually, some of the versions seem not to be vulnerable; my Slackware 3.1 box was though). Unfortunately, I have no time for a real investigation right now, but
