NOTE: Domain, hostnames, usernames and SIDs have been changed to protect the guilty. I am seeing an unable to successfully execute a variety of lookups from wbinfo and I think this is the underlying cause of some

winbind nss info = sfu is not so much working
with samba 3.0.22, I'm trying to integrate a linux box with Microsoft AD by using winbind for authentication as well as for the source of nss info. When winbind is configured to use its own local id maps, everything works fine. But when i configure winbind to use 'ad' as the source of nss info, authentication fails, 'getent' commands return no results, and 'wbinfo -r

Crash in 4.12.10 in
Well, we don?t use it. At least not intentionally? Ie, nothing references it in the configuration files. Hmm.. Aha! There are multiple instances of a function with that name and I just found the first match when grepping? My bad. Then it?s probably the variant found in source3/passdb/lookup_sid.c or perhaps something in source3/winbbind/idmap_ad or source3/winbindd/idmap_tdb that is causing the

Hi Thanks for the feedback. I currently have 3 production domains. - MYDOMAIN.COM is a production Windows 2008 domain used to support MS Exchange (but not file sharing.) - TECH - Samba3 "classic" domain with unix domain controllers that supports most users for authentication and file sharing. The DC machines are both Samba domains (for Windows clients) and KRB/LDAP

Cannot retrieve user/group information
Hi all, I have done a fair bit of searching of the mailing list archives, google and the manual, but have not had any luck as yet. I apologize for the length of this e-mail, but I thought it was better to provide what I could right off the bat instead of waiting to be asked for it. I am having the following oddity with a new samba server: I have it configured to talk to an

Open SUSE 64 bit fix
You just never know where your help is going to come from. :-) This is via a reminder to me from some PLUG members. I am passing this along because it worked for me. 1. Delete all the wine copies, source, compiled, and rpm 2. Delete all the FreeGLUT copies, source, compiled, and rpm 3. Delete the Yast repository for wine that open SUSE automatically makes 4. Go to the open

samba and idmap_rid panic
Sigh, Someday i will get samba to work on aix. Now I rebuild samba because I discovered that you needed to request it to build idmap_rid.so or it will not make it. After the rebuild I moved over the smb.conf again and net ads joined again. When I try to start samba, however, it panics with this information: smb_register_idmap: Successfully added idmap backend 'tdb' [2006/02/07

Mini Samba-SuSE Firewall2 HOWTO
(Please forgive the cross posting; I know many SuSE users subscribe to both the Samba and SuSE-e discussion groups and will get this message twice.) I had always been frustrated trying to get SuSE's Firewall2 to play nicely with Samba and support seamless network browsing. After much experimentation and a lot of Googling, I was finally able to get this working. By "working",

Login incorrect problem (SUSE-packaged Xen)
Hello, I am a newbie of Xen and just started with SUSE9.3-packaged Xen. The packaged document README.SuSE and script mk-xen-resucue-img.sh did me a great help, I could run sample ttylinux-xen and rescue-based Suse with xen. Now I''m trying YaST dirinstall. I Created a root FS image and installed a "minimal system required" using YaST . This domain booted and login console

SuSE 10 dom0 network and console problem
Hello, I have a problem getting the domain 0 (dom0) of xen running with SuSE 10. I have a SuSE 10 installation, which runs. When I switch to the xen kernel, the network does not work any more. Also the serial console does not work any more. If I login to the PC through (a very lousy) KVM, I can do local stuff, but the network does not work. (Ok, I can ping my own IP Address.) e.g. nslookup

PANIC: Could not fetch our SID - did we join?
Hi, I have some problems running Samba and Winbind 3.0.22 in a AD, kerberos environment. I have seen previous posts on several forums about this problem but haven't found any solution for it yet. I have no problem with the default Samba package that comes with Ubuntu, 3.0.14a. But I do wan't to upgrade and the only option in that case seems to be to compile it. I compiled it with

Samba Guide, SuSe and Yast
Hi, I'm using SuSe Linux Enterprise Server 9. I've setup a Samba/LDAP solution according to ch5 of the Samba Guide. It's working - that's great :-) Now I'd like to know if anyone tried to manage the users database using tools provided by Yast. Is there a risk to mess up everything ? Did anyone try that before ? Thanks for your help, Olivier Thibaut.
