Longman iBT 2.0 Toefl
Hello. Can anyone please take a second to help me out with this problem? I try to run Longman iBT 2.0 Toefl with the last version of Wine / Lubuntu / FGLRX (video driver for ATI HD 4330 ) / Java. I have the last version of all these... As you can see, the program runs but some items are not displayed or wrong displayed. Moving the pointer or moving the window can make the image better or worse.

rsync script for snapshot backups
The scripts I use analyze the rsync log after it completes and then sftp's a summary to the root of the just completed rsync. If no summary is found or the summary is that it failed, the folder rotation for that set is skipped and that folder is re-used on the subsequent rsync. The key here is that the folder rotation script runs separately from the rsync script(s). For each entity I want

Problems with lqs()
Dear List-Members, I have a problem with the function lqs() from package MASS. In some cases it produces different results for the same settings and needs a random seed to be set, in other cases not. I really cannot understand, why this happens. As well I do not understand what exactly you need the random seed for. Is it a starting point for iterations? Or do different results occur because of

what happens when I store linear models in an array?
I've got a bunch of similar datasets, all of which I've fit to linear models. I'd like to easily create arrays of a specific parameter from each linear model (e.g., all of the intercepts in one array). I figured I'd put the model objects into an array, and then (somehow) I could easily create corresponding arrays of intercepts or residuals or whatever, but I can't the

Hello everybody, First of all, congratulations on samba 3.0 :o) Iam trying to install samba 3.0 with pdb_mysql support though im getting some trouble i cant understand. After reading the output of ./configure --help, i used the following configure args: ./configure --with-expsam=xml,mysql --with-pam --with-pam_smbpass make make install then i took a look at ./examples/pdb/mysql/smb.conf and:

r2 and p value dispaly in table
Hello R User, I was trying to display r.squared and p value in table from regression, but I could not display these parameters in the table (matrix) for example individual <- c(1,1,6,8,8,9,9,9,12,12) day <- c(4,17,12,12,17,3,9,22,13,20) condition <- c(0.72, 0.72, 0.67, 0.73, 0.76, 0.65, 0.68, 0.78, 0.73, 0.71) test <- data.frame(individual, day, condition) ind.id <-

LMS estimation for lmsqreg package
Hello, I'm trying to create birth centile charts from about 90000 birth weights using the package lmsqreg. As this is not a CRAN package I have problems finding any examples, which explain how to estimate the LMS parameters needed for the equivalent degrees of freedom. (I only have some basic understanding of statistics, I roughly understand the formulas, but then I don't know how to

VGAM package released on CRAN
Dear useRs, upon request, the VGAM package (currently version 0.7-1) has been officially released on CRAN (the package has been at my website http://www.stat.auckland.ac.nz/~yee/VGAM for a number of years now). VGAM implements a general framework for several classes of regression models using iteratively reweighted least squares (IRLS). The key ideas are Fisher scoring, generalized linear and

Alternative to storing ActiveRecord object in session
I''m writing a wizard-like module in my application where, in a series of steps, the user builds upon an ActiveRecord object, and in the end, saves the AR object into the database. The ActiveRecord object is fairly complex, with a has_many association that could potentially get large, so I don''t want to store it directly in the session. In fact, having done so already caused a

a question about LMS and what constitutes outliers
Hi, I have been using the lqs function with method='lms'. However the results I get are a little different from the results noted by Rousseeuw & Leroy (Robust Regression and Outlier Detection) and I was wondering how to use these results for outlier detection. I'm using the stackloss dataset, for which the original Rousseeuw et al. program points out that observations 1,2,3,4

predict.lm How to introduce new data?
Dear all, I've fitted a lm using 61 data (training data), and I'left 10 as test data. Training data and test data are stored in an excell. training <- read.xls("C:/...../training.xls") , the same for test. That is: v1 v2 ... v15 When I type str(training) and str(test), both sets have the same names The resulting model is lms <- lm(vd ~ log(v1) + fv2+ fv5+ fv7 )

Anyone knows how microsoft AEC can deal with mismatches between clocks of capture and render streams?
I am doing this right now with no problem. I am not using speex for this at the moment though. Group delay is the biggest problem. I implemented a version where the input and output sample rates are known up front. The routine than interpolates between the jitter. This should solve the problem. The crystals used to clock the input and output have very fine tolerances on most standard audio

Simultaneously summarizing many models
Dear R users, Let?s say I have 10 models, each named m1,m2,m3..., and I would like to summarize them automatically and simultaneously - e.g., to extract parameter estimates later on from all models; how can I do that? I have tried: x=1:10 #this creates some example data y=rnorm(10) m1=lm(x~y) m2=lm(x~1) sum.lms=function(x)summary(paste("m",x,sep="")) sum.lms(1:2) but

Anyone knows how microsoft AEC can deal with mismatches between clocks of capture and render streams?
Hi All, Many Thanks to Underwood for her excellent review of our big trouble which prevent LMS-based AEC algorithms to be used in most computer. Maybe it can be summaried as follows: 1. Different sample rate of sampling and rendering does exists in most low-cost soundcards (In my experiments over more than 20 soundcards, the differences range from 0.5Hz to more than 50Hz when sample rate is set

problem with listing users on winXP/2k+3
Hello list, Some days ago i sent an email to this ML about a problem im having with listing users on winXP/2k+3 computers. The thing is our samba PDC has +1600 users and, this time i counted, there only appear on the "security advanced settings" list box (where we select users that can read/write/execute on a windows directory share), about 500/550 users. There is no evident reason

Anyone knows how microsoft AEC can deal with mismatches between clocks of capture and render streams?
Hi Shridhar, Sample rate conversion is not enough to solve this problem. I have tried this method several months ago. The first step is to measure the difference between sample rate of capturing and rendering. Then resampling (by what you said "sinc interpolation") one signal to eliminate the difference. The frequency step in my experiment is less than 0.1Hz. I have tried speex AEC
