Rooting FreeBSD , Privilege Escalation using Jails (Pétur)
I read this (http://www.petur.eu/blog/?p=459) blog post today. It's
about that a remote user with root privilegs to a FreeBSD jail & user
privileges to the jails host machine can obtain root privileges on the
host machine.
Can someone confirm if this bugg/exploit works?

bad email address
Every time I send a message to this list, I get a bounced email reply
from some Russian exchange server for email address xlino@bvpress.ru.
Is there an admin or a moderator for this list that can remove that
email address from the list?

Restricting users from certain privileges
Hi:
I could not figure out how to restrict users or other users from certain
privileges to execute certain commands in FreeBSD/NanoBSD?
What I meant is I want to create a NanoBSD image in which there will be an
additional user, say 'admin'. I need to give this new user (admin) some
privileges to run some root-can-only-execute commands, but not all (ACL
similar to the firmwares in adsl

GlusterFS mount does not list directory content until parent directory is listed
Hello,
Have spotted strange behaviour of GlusterFS fuse mount. I am unable to list files in a directory until parent directory is listed. However if I do list file with full path it is listed on some client nodes.
Example:
localadmin at ldgpsua00000038:~$ ls -al /var/lib/nova/instances/_base/
ls: cannot access /var/lib/nova/instances/_base/: No such file or directory

Missing Dependency subversion is needed by package subversion-ruby
Greets.
I''m currently trying to install GIT on an RHEL5 box. I''ve tried to
both build from source and install via yum. In both instances I
continue to receive the error message (full error stack at the end):
Error: Missing Dependency: subversion = 1.4.2-2.el5 is needed by
package subversion-ruby
If I''m reading this correctly I''m seeing that svn

Subversion authentication?
Hello,
I''ve been trying to get the latest copy of BackgrounDRB as per the
documentation here http://backgroundrb.rubyforge.org/. However,
whenever I try to access
http://svn.devjavu.com/backgroundrb/tags/release-0.2.1 I keep an
authentication prompt and if I leave it blank I am declined access.
Is there somewhere else to get the code or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,
-carl

Rails, Subversion and SWIG??
Hi, I''d like to use Ruby on Rails to build an online Configuration
Management system, (like the one used in prince2 project management).
As this is essentially a version control system I thought it best to let
Subversion take care of this aspect of the system for me,...
Unfortunately, I''m pretty inexperienced when it comes to setting up Make
etc so was wondering if anyone

Running windows subversion client on Wine
Hello, everyone.
I'm giving Enterprise Architect a try under Wine but I'm dealing with
a weird problem when I try to use SVN to update EA's packages.
EA does not work with the Linux native SVN client, so I installed a
win32 SVN client under wine. When I try to run this client, I get the
following error:
svn: Network socket initialization failed

Subversion tags are now available in git
Hi all,
As anyone on the commits list now knows, I''ve added all of the tags
from svn to git. You can fetch all of the tags with this command:
git fetch --tags
Then you can compare the tagged releases like any other commit:
git diff 0.23.1 0.23.2
I''ve also updated the PuppetSource wiki page with this info.

FreeBSD.org begins switch to Subversion
The FreeBSD Project has begun the switch of its source code management
system from CVS to Subversion. At this point in time, FreeBSD's
developers are making changes to the base system in the Subversion
repository. There is a replication system in place that exports our
work to the legacy CVS tree on a continuous basis.
People who are using our extensive CVS based distribution network

subversion AND gem rails howto?
I have been using rails on Debian Sarge since May of last year. I initially
gem installed rails as root and since then I have been gem updating the
installation. I have had no trouble with the installation or development.
Now feel that I''d like to use svn to get edgerails to be able to use nifty
features such as RJS. Some of the threads on the subject talk about
svn:externals in the

Subversion CentOS documentation problem - can someone fix this?
Hi - the "Subversion on CentOS" are missing a key point - can someone modify:
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Subversion
to fix them?
These docs need to add the info from:
http://www.virtualmin.com/node/9539
Basically,
"In your /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf, there should be a series of LoadModule lines that load "dav_module" and "dav_fs_module" (amongst others)

Subversion VFS Module
I read about a Subversion VFS Module at http://www.samba.org/samba/projects/summercode06.html
Is this still moving?
(I don't know how to get the samba user if I try doing the equivalent using inotify...)

Managing two similar Ruby on Rails projects using Subversion
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a way to manage two very similar Ruby on
Rails projects with minor differences using subversion, so that both
projects could be updated at once? Sometimes only a file in one of the
projects would need to be updated, but often the change applies to both
projects.
Thanks,
Erica
