How to migrate Active Directory from one Samba4 server to another
Hello! We are using a Samba4.0.0alpha19 (Resara 1.1.2) based domain controller in a small production environment and because the Resara development has ended we want to switch to a plain Samba4 beta based Ubuntu 12.04/Zentyal Server. I have installed and configured the new server with the same domain-name and the same hostname like the old server. How can i export the Active Directory from the

samba4 backup and restore
Hi, After testing samba4 for few days (works great !!), i'm planning to run it as production server for 20 XP clients. I'm looking for a way to backup all data of the samba4 domain in order to restore them after a crash or a bad update. So, if saving the smb.conf in samba3 was enough, what are the files to backup in samba4 ? thanks for advices

recommanded way to restore objects from Deleted Objects
Hi everyone, in samba 4.5 changelog, it says that samba AD now supports tombstone reanimation. I've been used to ldbrename and ldbmodify to reanimate objects to keep objectSID, but if it is now officially supported, it would be better to use the proper way. Sysinternals tool adrestore [1] seems to be working properly (it does not restore most attributes, but this is expected since

Restore samba4 backup
Hi guys, My samba4 PDC (we have only one in our LAN) has crashed. I did a backup yesterday, following the instructions described here https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Backup_and_Recovery. Now, I'm trying to restore the backup to a new server. I've performed the restore procedures but I'm getting the following errors when I try to start samba4 on the new server: Calling DNS name

sorry it's not working any more. At least if you have more then one DC. I didn't get an answer to this problem so that's the reason why it will not be part of the new samba4 book :-( Am 15.10.2018 um 15:47 schrieb Oliver Heinz via samba: > Dear list, > > I am trying to restore an deleted user object with samba 4.9.1 (sernet > packages).  I am aware that the object will

Samba4 & Delegation
Hi, It has been a while that I did not come back to this topic, however I think I found a work-around for my initial problem. For information, what I was trying to do was: - Create an OU for a group of applications - Delegate control of this OU to a normal user (not helpdesk or domain admin) to be able to create groups and assign domain users to them The problem was, whenever I

If you don't have backups, then you're pretty much out of luck. Don't forget to back up any data that is important, and test your backups regularly! Depending on the filesystem, there might be ways to

how to restore deleted directory/files
Hi, Thanks for your reply. The file system type is xfs. And I found xfsdump/xfsrestore can undo the remove. I use dd to copy the partition as one image file. How do I mount the image as read-only device? Then I can try to recover the deleted files/directory anytime. Thanks! Samba4 + Winbind + PAM Installation/Configuration
Hello, Now that I have my Samba4 DC running great on CentOS6.4 I was wondering if somebody could help understand better how to install and configure Samba4 with winbind and PAM. I used the tutorial here: [http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Winbind](http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Winbind) This got me through to the point where "Using pam_winbind" starts.
