GhostScript Problem
Hello to all readers I've got a problem that I have to solve with wine and ghostscript. So, my only problem is that gostscripts (gswin32.exe) can't find the gs_init.ps file. I tried changes in the Registry, if there is a case sensitive mistake and every thing else, but it doesn't work. Now that I'm totally frustrated searching a solution on the web, this mailing list is my

Help! messed up user rights with word and samba 3.0.x
Hello everybody! I need help with a curious problem referring to Word and Samba. I've installed a network with a Samba 3.0.2 PDC and fileserver and about 8 Windows Clients ranging from w2k prof (members of the domain) to XP home. The XP Home users have an account within the domain and so can "mount" the Samba share as a local drive on their computers. All of the users are members

R and Java
I am calling R from within Java. But I don't think that I can get any plots written to file from R - inside Java. This snippet of code(from a larger piece of code) compiles in Java, but doesn't do anything! functions.append("trial<-c(1,3,4,5)\n"); functions.append("dawpdf<-function(filename){\n");

Figures within tables [slightly off-topic]
Dear R-listers I am writing a manuscript for a scientific journal in clinical medicine. I have three groups of patients, and I present a 10*3 table of their characteristics in Table 1. Some of their characteristics, e.g. their age, are on a continuous scale, others are dichotomous. I am thinking of presenting the age distribution in each group as miniature graphs, each of which must fit in one
