Sample config files installed to /etc
The sample config files in the Asterisk distribution and packages are
really good for getting the demo up and running quickly, for example, to
extend the demo to run behind a WebRTC proxy only required about 6 lines
of extra code to define a peer in sip.conf and enable TCP
However, I'm not sure that they should be installed by default by packages.

Pet project: one step Asterisk compile on Centos 7
Hi all,
I thought I'd share I script I made (based on some of Leif's works)
that lets you download, compile and install Asterisk all in one go;
and then removed the dev tools used.
We use it quite a bit to provision systems using Ansible, but it is
easier than remembering everything every time even if you are using a
shell.
At the moment I have scripts for Centos 7 and Asterisk 13, but

MOH distorted voice in Native and MP3 format
Hello,
I have been facing an issue that voice is getting distorted sometimes in MOH
(MusicOnHold) application.
I have checked and confirmed that lame is properly installed, even tried
native formats (ulaw, alaw, gsm), but the randomly seen distortion in MOH
can't be eliminated.
I came to know about requirement of timing device for MOH and MeetMe and a

Asterisk 1.4 from RPM
I'm trying to build an Asterisk rpm from the supplied asterisk.spec file.
Made numerous changes to get it to work.
The architecture of the system I am building on is x86_64. I'd like to build for i686 though.
I added a --target i686 to the rpmbuild line in the Makefile, but it looks like it's still requiring 64bit system libraries.
When I try to install the rpm on the i686 machine, it

Building an RPM from Asterisk 1.4
Ok, so I'm no rpm expert, but Asterisk 1.4.11 comes with an asterisk.spec
file. Running rpmbuild against it yields errors, the first one being that
the 'Copyright' tag is unknown, and that I need a License tag instead.
Fixed that, and...

Ubuntu 8.04 + Astribank
I'm trying to use a Xorcom Astribank wth Ubuntu 8.04, but got no success. I
can see the channel bank with lsusb, but when I tried to use
zaptel_hardware, or when I try the /etc/init.d/script, they don't see my
Channel Bank. I compiled the latest Zaptel 1.4.10, with Astribank's
dependecies, fxload and libusb-dev. Anyone have a similiar experience ?

HPEC performance
Does this make a significant improvement? The box in question I was going to
try this with has a 4 port TDM card w/ plenty of horsepower, but I do intend
to later migrate to a Soekris unit running Astlinux and therefore might not have
the power to run it after. If the difference is significant, I may move to an ITX
board so I could use a bigger CPU, but only if the hassle is worthwhile.

TDM2400 card FXS problems
We have a recently deployed server with a new TDM2400 card that will not put dialtone or audio on FXS ports after the physical server restarts (though they will ring if called, there's just no audio on the line if the phone at the other end picks up). The symptom can be resolved by stopping Asterisk, restarting DAHDI, and then restarting Asterisk. So far, this has happened on both times the

Detailed Instructions
Hello List,
I am getting Asterisk set up. I am going to be installing Debian Linux
on a laptop later. I would appreciate some detailed instructions on:
(A) What to type into the shell to download and install Asterisk.
(B) How to open the configuration files (*.conf)
(C) If there is a way that I can change the configuration files remotely (SSH?).
Thanks in advance.
