Graph question
If I have a set of data comprising a list of numbers of eggs on mosquito guts that range from 1 to 157. How can I get R to draw a barchart of the distribution of the data (i.e. x axis= number of eggs on a gut, y axis=number of mosquitoes found with that number of eggs)? Data is listed below. Thanks, Georgina Number of eggs on each mosquito gut: [1] 1 1 1 1 4 2 1 12 12 1 2

multiple logical streams
Hi, Why is seekability necessary in case of multiplexed multiple logical streams? Isn't the differentiation based on serial number sufficient to continue decoding of pages in the sequence of their arrival? why results from regression tree (rpart) are totally inconsistent with ordinary regression
Hi, In my analysis of impacts of insecticide-treated bednets on malaria, I look at the relationship between malaria incidence and mosquito behaviors. The condensed data set is copied here. Ordinary regression (lm) shows that Incidence was negatively related to Mortality. This makes sense because the latter reflected the strength of killing mosquitoes by insecticide-treated nets. Since the

How to read NT Domain accounts from a Unix box
Hi, Is there any open way of reading user/group accounts of a NT Domain from a Unix box? I guess, rpcclient is more like a hack of MS protocol. Is it the only way currently? Can anyone give more information on this? Thanks in advance. Spatstat - Several density plots using the same scale
Hi everyone, I am using the package "spatstat" for ploting kernel maps of my data. It is a marked point pattern, the result of mosquito surveillance in a area in a week. For each trap, the number of individuals captured is the mark of the point. > plot(density(X, weights=X$marks)) makes a nice kernel, but the problem is that I've got several weeks and for each week the density

A question on lmer() function
Dear R users, We have encountered a slight problem when using the lmer() function: 1. Data description: 11 locations; Nt: monthly mosquito population density from 1994-2005 in each location. 2. Question: to examine the degree of spatial heterogeneity in the system by testing model support for single versus multiple intercepts and slopes for the location effect. We applied the lmer()

Software pipeline using LLVM
Hi all, I want to generate assembly code using Swing Modulo Scheduling in LLVM for many ALU (May could be Adders, multilayer ......), I need some help how I can do that, which commend I run? Also if possible more information about the scheduling and the register location ......, and which pass responsible about that, and which LLVM version support Swing Modulo Scheduling. Thank you. Cross K Ripley's function and "spatio-temporal interaction power"
Dear All, I have a collections of spatial data. I have to analyze pairs of these point patterns to test their spatial interaction. I was moving towards the cross K Ripley's function. The problem, however, are the following: 1) What is the best way to get a single real value that represents the interaction "power"? 2) How to obtain a value that even allows me to rank the pairwise

Array as time series?
Dear R-helpers, I have 4-dimensional atmospheric data (x,y,z,t), which I want to analyse on spatio-temporal diversities. As far as I understand there only exists the possibility to construct time series as two-dimensional matrices (mts). For the moment, I hold it in different objects: 1. a four-dimensional array for the spatial related analyses 2. a two-dimensional mts timeserie, which was

Mosquito TDD Framework Updated
Mosquito, the TDD framework for Camping has been updated (0.1.3). We''ve tried to keep it backwards compatible, so your apps should continue to work. But feel free to submit a bug report at RubyForge if you have any problems. Computational Ecologist Job at NOAA in Silver Spring, MD -- Marine Wildlife Spatial Modeling in R
The NOAA National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science is hiring a Computational Ecologist, a statistical/computational ecologist with experience fitting advanced spatial models to marine wildlife survey data (e.g., seabirds and marine mammal transects, fisheries trawl surveys) in R and other statistical languages. This is a full-time, long-term stable contract position. We are looking for an

memory allocation
Dear sirs, I'm using the Splancs package to compute standard errors of the estimates of a spatio-temporal k function. When I use as spatial and temporal distances too long vectors (respectively 60 and 80 entries) for a dataset of 1000 observations, R gives me the message Error: cannot allocate vector of size 180000 Kb Reached total allocation of 512 Mb. I ran the function memory.size()

Spatio-temporal analysis of homicide rates
Dear R-listers, I would like to carry out a very basic descriptive analysis of homicides rates in Italy, taking into account both the spatial dimension (103 provinces) and the temporal dimension (10 years), but no covariates. In practice, what I would like to do is to describe spatio-temporal variation of homicide rates, identifying those combinations of province-year where the homicide rate

Handling realisations in geoRglm
Dear R users: I want to model mosquito count data based on landcover attributes and meteorological variables using a Poisson GLSM in the geoRglm package. I have monthly mosquito counts over more than 20 years with repeated observations from individual trap sites over time. I have used as.geodata() to successfully read my dataset into the geodata format utilized by geoR and geoRglm,

Walds Z in a mixed model
I recently reviewed a paper that used Wald's Z in a mixed model analysis. The dataset (see end of message for complete dataset) has individual animals (SAMPLE) from within social groups, from within geographic regions. Y is the response variable. The paper ran a mixed model with year and region as fixed effects, group a random effect nested within region, and sample nested within group. I
