Anyway, my goal is to use R to manage my personal music library, and more precisely my playcounts. I have two XML files, one from Winamp and the other one from Itunes. Both have pretty much the same songs, but their playcounts are

Call log reveals redundant calls!
Hi, all-- What do you make of this? Here's my call log--looks like there are a lot of calls going in and out of the server that are not real incoming or outgoing calls. Does anybody have any clue what is happening? 2006-11-14 16:41:00 Local/8183... 8183461773 "8183461773" <8183461773> 8183461773 NO ANSWER 1 47. 2006-11-14 16:40:59 IAX2/Voice... 8183461773

odd situation slightly off topic (sending file descriptors to another process)
I have coded up the standard sendfd() and recvfd() for linux to send and recv file descriptors. seems to work (http://book.chinaunix.net/special/ebook/addisonWesley/APUE2/0201433079/ch17lev1sec4.html) however when I recvfd() my number of open file descriptors bumps by 2 and not 1. (using lsof -p X | wc -l) I am not sure why the count jumps by 2 and not 1. The sendfd() is just sending a socket

Samba problem
Hi, I have a problem connecting my Windows98 to the Samba server. The Linux computer comes up in the "Network Neighborhood" control panel, but when I double click on the icon, W98 asks for a password for the "\\machine name\IPC$" resource. But my password will not me accepted. I have logged in as user "root" with a given password on both computers. When I set

Samba share not working: getpwuid(1000) failed, Failed to finalize nt token & NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL
I have a small home network with server and 5 clients all on an internal LAN with private IPs. Samba, Version 4.7.6-Ubuntu, file sharing is not working on the server for any of the 5 clients. I have tried both mount.cifs and smbclient. The same errors are thrown in the server's samba logs for all connection attempts, regardless of how the client tries to connect: getpwuid(1000) failed,

How should I educate myself in order to code for WineHQ?
I consider myself not having any real programming experience. I've went through 5 weeks long basic courses for each of these scripting languages. So no real programming experience to fall back on and I basically can't do anything useful with any of these languages anyways. Matlab PHP+MySQL bash But I want to learn just enough to be useful for the Wine project. And thus enable me to see

reserved words
I''ve seen this topic has been discussed a couple of times. However, I''m wondering if a method exists in rails to test a name against the reserved words listed on the wiki? Just wanted to check before I write this myself (and type in all of those names -- including PostgreSQL). To explain the application: I''ve written a project that manages ldap data. On a fresh
