X11 XVideo extension supported?
I was wondering if the XVideo extension is supported or not? In a clean wine setup, I installed DivX 4.01 and The Playa, also installed Windows Media Player 6.4. They can both display DivX 4.01 material with sound. This is simply great :-) However, the performance is not that great. Especially when going fullscreen the cpu is overburdened (slide show). I assume that the XVideo extension is not

Q about dpi, fonts, gnome, Xorg etc
This has been puzzling me for some time and despite bothering Auntie Google rather a lot, I've yet to find a satisfying answer. As an old-time (since 1981) unix and X guy, I've generally been fairly well-able to get fonts to behave in a rational manner. My needs are pretty simple - I just want 8-point (or 9-point etc) fonts to appear on the screen as 8-point font - ie more or less 8 *

AIGLX + r300 + compiz?
So I've spent the last few days getting Xorg pulled from freedesktop git and built. Everything seems to have worked, and I now have Xorg version 7.1.99.2 running, composite enabled, and AIGLX enabled. The Xorg log file shows: (WW) AIGLX: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x23 (WW) AIGLX: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x24 (WW) AIGLX: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x25

CentOS 7 KVM guests no longer get keystrokes after yum update
Dear all, After "yum update" and reboot on a CentOS 7 server running kvm, all VM guests fail to receive keyboard input. Even sending ctrl-alt-delete from the virt-manager "Send Key" menu is inoperative. Most guests are set up as spice + QXL, and viewed on remote X sessions using virt-manager. Extensive browsing for a solution has turned up only dead ends. I tried reverting to

[LLVMdev] How to optimize for x86 32-bit on Sandy Bridge processor ?
Hi all, I would like to know what are the options to use with 3.3rc1 llc/opt to 32-bit (NOT 64-bit) code on a Sandy Bridge processor ? I've defined a datalayout that use a 32-bit as pointer size and I'm passing -march=x86 to llc, is it enough ? I'm not using CLANG as front-end. Monitor power save question
I decided to try the x86_64 version of CentOS 5 on my new desktop since it has an Athlon 64 X2 CPU. The one really perplexing oddity is that the monitor no longer goes to power save mode (standby) if the system is idle long enough (e.g., overnight). The "power management" option is set to put the display to sleep after thirty minutes. The display gets blanked but it never goes to
