initial metacity theme support for compiz
I just pushed some code into the compiz repository for initial metacity
theme support. It's not complete, left and right borders are not
rendered correctly, button decorations doesn't always match event window
locations, maximized and shaded windows are not rendered as when running
metacity, button locations are not configurable as with metacity... but
it still seem to look OK with most

developer documentation work
Hi all!
I'm currently working with Compiz and as part of that I'm trying to create
more developer documentation, as I think that's important in inviting
both new explorers and bug patches to the project.
I've started an overview document to go in addition to any existing code
examples. It's currently available at

custom shortcuts
I'm trying to define my long time keyboard shortcuts in compiz on a new
FC6 system with gnome. I want <Alt>n to run a shell and <Shift><Alt>p for
pan. In metacity I could set the shell shortcut from
System->Preferences->keyboard shortcuts, and for something like pan (which
was not in the menu) I could do it in gconf-editor (apps->metacity, etc.).

Looking for input
Hey All,
First off, congratulations to David and the others who worked on the 0.3.4
release and Happy Thanksgiving!
There's been some discussion in the forum on the design and functionality of
the compiz website and I'd like to get the opinion of David and any others
who have an interest in this topic.
My first question is to David. You indicated that you were interested in

the notorious "GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing" error
I'm not reporting a bug (I know it's not the right place to do that
anyway), but a little help would be appreciated.
Once again I run into the famous "compiz: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is
missing" error. The problem is I can't figure out what's wrong.
I use fedora core 6 on an athlon XP with an ati RV250 and the radeon
open-source drivers
running compiz reports:

New top menu item
David, can we get a "Documentation" item in the main menu leading to a new
documentation page? I'd like to add a Howto and some other info for end users
but none of the 4 main menu pages seem appropriate for that. I didn't see a
way to add a menu item through the wiki, so I think you need to do that.
Also, have you any thoughts about a new official logo? There's a thread

Beryl and Compiz Merge: What's actually going on?
Compiz and Beryl merge: What's really going on?
Recently Quinns post to the beryl-dev mailing list entitled 'Merge on'
has led to a lot of discussion, some of which has been good and some
of which has led to a lot of misinformation, to clear things up I'd
like to give the story of the merge, and the justification for some of
the more peculiar aspects. Basically lets try to avoid

New configuration system
I see many people hate Compiz (and use Beryl) just because it needs
gconf + many other GNOME deps. I think this is the biggest advantage of
Beryl over Compiz.
Yes, users don't have to compile compiz with gconf, but how will they
configure things? They'll modify the sources?
Compiz needs a new configuration plugin. A text-based one, independent
of tons of libraries would be great.

Compiz and Beryl are Reuniting
After several weeks of discussion the leaders of Compiz and Beryl have agreed
that the two communities shall reunite. This decision is supported by both
David and Quinn and represents the majority decision of the administrators
and developers in each community. At this early stage not a lot has been
decided, but these are the main points of the agreement:
- As had previously been decided,

Aquamarine: The KDE Window Decorator
Hi,
I have added compiz support to aquamarine.
You can download it directly from beryl svn:
svn co svn://svn.beryl-project.org/beryl/trunk/aquamarine/
To install:
./autogen.sh
./configure --enable-debug=full
./make
./sudo make install
You can use kcontrol to set the decoration and decoration specific settings.
You can post bugs to the beryl bugtracker at http://bugs.beryl-project.org .

Compiz Community
Hello,
I'm new to compiz and to this list but I'd like to contribute. I couldn't find
a more appropriate place to ask a few questions about the compiz project
(which is actually my first question).
1. Since the apparent compiz/beryl fork I don't see a compiz "community" site.
Is there one?
2. Is compiz going to continue to be developed, and if so, is there a road

Freenode Group Registration
I've been informed by freenode staff that in order to claim #compiz
and #compiz-dev (both are apparently leftovers from beryl) we need to
fill out a group registration and have a group contact. I'd be willing
to handle all that, just thought I should ask here first to see if
everyone was ok with it. Thoughts?

Post unification
Hello Community
Congratulations everyone for the reunification.
To kick off the process, shall we finalize channels we are going to
use for communication so that all the developers involved know what is
going on and where. Which ML and IRC would be used for 'semi-official'
communication etc.

Tried out Beryl (Animation pugin)
Hi
I just tried out the new 0.1.0 release of beryl. Generally I do like the
compiz fdo version, because I like the gconf integration and the
metacity theme support in gwd. Also I think their configuration system
is a complete mess, this beryl settings manager is completly bloated in
my opinion.
Anyway, I noticed they have quite a lot of plugins. While I found most
of them nothing special, the

--skip-gl-yield
Beryl has a --skip-gl-yield ( I think now managed by --force-nvidia,
dont really know though), that eases the use of beryl under heavy CPU
load.
Is this implemented in compiz? Cause compiz is _REALLY_ slow under heavy
cpu use for me.
Thanks,
Joel

Centos5, Compiz, and Nvidia
Hi!
Just did a TEST install of centos5 on an old PIII box.
one of the things I wanted to see was the fancy desktop eye-candy of
compiz and/or beryl.
This box has a nvidia 6600 series card, and I've isntalled the Nvidia
drivers (download from nvidia and run their installer).
I used the software updater to install compiz (didn't show up on original
install, perhaps I didn't hold my

[PATCH] Transparent cube
Hi,
Recently i have worked on re-writing beryl's transparent cube, and
ported 3d plugin to compiz.
I'm attaching a patchset here that includes the transparent cube
patches (i'll post the 3d plugin when i fix some problems that didn't
happen in beryl).
Patching order: btf-ftb.patch, clip-planes.patch, plugin-events.patch,
cube-paint-order.patch, transparent-cube.patch.
