Compiz and Beryl are Reuniting
After several weeks of discussion the leaders of Compiz and Beryl have agreed that the two communities shall reunite. This decision is supported by both David and Quinn and represents the majority decision of the administrators and developers in each community. At this early stage not a lot has been decided, but these are the main points of the agreement: - As had previously been decided,

Compiz Community
Hello, I'm new to compiz and to this list but I'd like to contribute. I couldn't find a more appropriate place to ask a few questions about the compiz project (which is actually my first question). 1. Since the apparent compiz/beryl fork I don't see a compiz "community" site. Is there one? 2. Is compiz going to continue to be developed, and if so, is there a road

Looking for input
Hey All, First off, congratulations to David and the others who worked on the 0.3.4 release and Happy Thanksgiving! There's been some discussion in the forum on the design and functionality of the compiz website and I'd like to get the opinion of David and any others who have an interest in this topic. My first question is to David. You indicated that you were interested in having

Re: Beryl Merger
This was a private mail and not supposed to go to the compiz list. Please don't don't read it unless you're on the compiz admin list. :) I've apologized to Jeff, Mike, Rico and Arturo for making this mistake and I'd like to apologize to anyone else who might have been offended by it. I guess the good part is that you get an uncensored view of what we feel about the community

CompComm has a real name!
Our previous attempts to select a project name for CompComm have not gone well. We tried a poll but the names in the poll were not pre-qualified to determine if they were usable and the ?winning? name was also a strongly disliked name. Kristian and I each proposed a plan to select a name, but that effort got sidetracked by a massive flame war on the mailing list. While our community has some

Domain Names, etc.
Hello All, A quick update regarding the domain name issue. Ben and I have been in contact with Guillaume and things are moving forward. Guillaume has installed a re-direct page on compiz.com that provides links to both compiz.biz and beryl-project.org. He has also agreed to give David the compiz.org domain name. David, could you contact either Guillaume or myself with your registry

Video Plugin
Hi, I've read the following message concerning the compiz video plugin: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/compiz/2007-March/001576.html I've patched mplayer, but the xserver patch doesn't seem to apply cleanly to xserver-1.3. Is there an updated patch for this, or is one even still necessary? Also, is there any work in something like a gstreamer plugin for the compiz video?

Compiz-manager script (Was: --skip-gl-yield)
I threw together a very rough draft of a script: (See my compiz-script git repo: http://gitweb.beryl-project.org/?p=users/kristian/compiz-scripts;a=summary ) It's not too pretty, and only really adjusted for nVidia, so it's pretty useless at this point. I've only ever actually used nVidia with direct rendering, so I'll need some input from people with other setups than mine. On

git hosting
The git hosting I promised is finally set up. Sorry that this took forever to get ready. If you want a repository on git.compiz.org, send an email to me and explain with a few words why you want it. If you have some code, attach it or include an URL to where it can be found. Include a list of initial user names and passwords that should be given write access to the repository. The requirements

Where are we going?
Hello All, The Managing Committee has spent quite a bit of effort over the last two months trying to define the direction and goals of compiz. One of the issues we struggled with was how to define the scope of compiz broad enough to include everything the community is interested in, while still keeping it compact enough to be easily included as a component in a desktop environment (DE).

rotate option: "Zoom only on mouse rotate".
Hi. Some time ago a working patch adding this functionality was available (http://gitweb.compiz-fusion.org/?p=users/3v1n0/compiz-patches;a=summary). It is incompatible with current (git) version of compiz. Are there any chances for adding this option to rotate plugin ? Why wasn't it added before, like in case of "Transparency only on Mouse Rotate" in cube plugin ? Cheers. Artur

Scheme extension language plugin.
I've put a scheme plugin in users/racarr/compiz-scheme on gitweb.open-compositing.org. Essentially it allows the user to define a startup file (~/.compiz/startup.scm) and fill it with scheme code to do neat things and extend Beryl. On one hand it acts like a super powered state plugin, on the other it lets you define useful behavior specific to what you do with your Compiz and share these

New top menu item
David, can we get a "Documentation" item in the main menu leading to a new documentation page? I'd like to add a Howto and some other info for end users but none of the 4 main menu pages seem appropriate for that. I didn't see a way to add a menu item through the wiki, so I think you need to do that. Also, have you any thoughts about a new official logo? There's a thread

More clear CCSM messages
Hello, Would it be possible to have someone knowledgeable about the inner working of Compiz to change the messages CCSM uses (which can be found here<http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=compiz;a=blob;f=metadata/core.xml.in;h=8fa18ab503a4c245a6f77582706d29bbbb654cc5;hb=HEAD>) to be understandable to us not really technical people? One example would be the 'Sync To VBlank' option. I

Post unification
Hello Community Congratulations everyone for the reunification. To kick off the process, shall we finalize channels we are going to use for communication so that all the developers involved know what is going on and where. Which ML and IRC would be used for 'semi-official' communication etc. 1. Danny, Quinn and Marex have already started working on compiz-plugins-beryl-premerge tree on

Scale Binding
Hi, Recently this commit was pushed to git, changing the default binding for scale to alt + shift + up: http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/app/compiz.git;a=commit;h=77def1253419e1e0d3335f4c4790471b5130f087 I think this new binding is quite bad for many users who have multiple layouts in their keyboard (like non-latin languages), as alt + shift is commonly used for changing keyboard layouts.
