Black screen returning from console
Another problem I'm experiencing is that when I switch to the console and switch back to the desktop (vt7) it is all black, some colour remaining of the bottom panel exists for a couple of pixels along the bottom of the screen. My console is running frame buffer and gensplash. I've got compiz running with my ATI driver, and xorg 7.1.1 Is there a known bug between the frame buffer and Xgl?

Crash trying to start with ATI BigDesktop
I've got compiz running with my ATI driver, and xorg 7.1.1 It's quite the eye-candy, and now my ultimate tool in pissing micro$hit user off! I had previously been using ATI's BigDesktop across two monitors. When I tried this with Xgl and Compiz it bombed out during startup. I couldn't spot anything different in my Xorg.94.log file either. Is it possible to get BigDesktop

Compiz not working properly using nvidia twinview
Hi, I am running ubuntu 7.10 gutsy, and I have compiz working on one monitor ( a bit slow though ). When I add twinview to the mix compiz still comes up, and sort of works but: 1. I loose the background and it is replace by all white 2. The second monitor draws about 30% of the new white background, then it ends with a bit of a shadow, and then it continues with black 3.

Minor fix to multi-head changes for mixed resolutions
Hey, David, for me the recent multihead changes had minor a problem with mixed resolutions (1600x1200 & 1280x1024). The viewport was getting set partially off screen. The following tweak fixed it for me: --- plugins/display.c +++ plugins/display.c @@ -2069,7 +2069,7 @@ eventLoop (void) { if (s->nOutputDev > 1)

Xgl/Compiz - Kernel, ATI, Console, and Multihead problems still unresolved
I've been avidly updating mesa, xgl, and compiz, every week (from the portage-xgl overlay) hoping to solve some of these problems: * Using ati-drivers-8.29.6 xgl crashes complaining about lacking dri, so i'm using 8.27.10. * Using 2.6.18 kernels, the ati-drivers-8.27.10 don't compile when building the drm module. * My laptop automatically switchs to vt1 when init services fail

switch metacity->compiz (compiz ignores its own settings)
I have configured compiz to use 1 workspace and 4 viewports and metacity to use 4 workspaces. When I start compiz while metacity was running it uses 4 workspaces and 4 viewports (ignoring the gconf settings). When I restart X so that compiz is started before metacity this does not happen (it uses what its configured for). bug or feature? if feature can it be disabled? switching

Too difficult to resize window!
The area over the window's border where the cursor changes to a resize cursor for me is just one pixel!! I always spent half a minute just trying to get the cursor over this exact spot so to resize a window. Half the time when i click the mouse its moved and i've missed :-( Is there some way to configure this area to make it easier to resize a window? (I didn't have this problem

Compiz bugs?
Hi, I've been following the list for a few months but this just my first post to the list. I've just started to use compiz again a few days ago and I have a few things (probably bugs) here that bugged me a little bit. I am not sure whether the bugs is in compiz or somewhere else so it would be nice if someone could confirm them. Here they are: - on default window decoration the maximize

initial metacity theme support for compiz
I just pushed some code into the compiz repository for initial metacity theme support. It's not complete, left and right borders are not rendered correctly, button decorations doesn't always match event window locations, maximized and shaded windows are not rendered as when running metacity, button locations are not configurable as with metacity... but it still seem to look OK with most

Compiz session management
Hello, After trying to solve a issue with desktop-effects in fedora (compiz does not let itself to be replaced by metacity). We come to the conclusion that the compiz session management code is broken. When unmanaging the screen compiz should unregister itself from the session manager to let a new started wm to take over the screen. See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=229113

compiz and desktop slowness
Hello. I'm using compiz-vanilla, and I have noticed that it makes Nautilus act extremely slow on my desktop; for example, if I select several icons quickly the selection box becomes quite choppy, and if I try to move them there is a huge "lag". I noticed that Nautilus behaves completely normal on non-desktop windows, though, and if I replace compiz with metacity (metacity --replace)

Fullscreen windows(videos) and Compiz
I worte in my last mail that when I ue compiz git fullscreen videos are no longer ontop of the gnome-panel... that means that the gnome-panel is still visible while playing the video in fullscreen. The commit which I said may caused it has nothing to do with it compiz does not build if I revert it). again with older compiz and metacity it works fine. (now I am running 20070316). General compiz questions
I've been using compiz on KDE for a while now and I like the eye candy. Thanks to all who made this possible. I'm usually a no-nonsense guy who doesn't care about eye candy (I'm not even using a background picture because I'm worried about the memory it'll use (on a machine with 2 GB of RAM) :) ) but compiz stormed (sic!) my defences. Now for my questions: 1. compiz is a

Why does gdk_window_get_frame_extents give me different results on compiz vs. metacity?
Hi all, I'm trying to do some window positioning for a GTK window. I compute positions based on current window sizes and that works well under metacity using gdk_window_get_frame_extents. Under compiz positioning is all off, because that function yields different results with windows decorations being the same (gnome window decorator etc.). With mc I get a height of 67, with compiz of 43

Compiz porting plan, for help
David & All, As you might have heard, Intel recently introduced a new low-power device called a Mobile Internet Device (MID). We're working in Intel's Open source Technology Center on the Linux Desktop UI. Given the small screen we're planning on using a stack-based window manager where each application runs full-screen (think Matchbox). We think it would be very cool to get a

Fedora 7 and Compiz 0.3.6
Just a quick question, Any ideas why Fedora 7 is still on Compiz 0.3.6? Currently the main repository has 0.3.6 and the development one has 0.4. Shouldn't it be 0.4 for the main and 0.5 for the development? Does 0.4 break anything? -Ioannis
