And does it work ok? any special use cases or installation issues? I'm thinking of a 64 bit installation with an RV530 chipset. Dave -- Canada must refuse to be entangled in any more wars fought to make the world safe for capitalism. -- The Regina Manifesto, 1933

Blank screen while loading AMD/ATI graphics driver (fglrx) in Dom0 (Linux 3.0/3.2) with Xen 4.1/4.2
Hi, Xen wiki states that using linux 3.0 and above as dom0 works with all graphics cards. I could install the fglrx graphics driver on my desktop machine with a discrete graphics card (Radeon HD 5870), but I see a blank screen while loading fglrx on my AMD Fusion E350 machine with integrated graphics card (Radeon HD 6310). The graphics driver loads fine when the Linux kernel runs alone not as

ATI fglrx + wine ==> The Checkerboard of Doom
...as it was called on Phoronix forums. After this (http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=2066) discussion, I have decided to give the ATI/AMD fglrx drivers another go... and immediately remembered why I gave them up in the first place. That was version 8.5. Now, two versions after (yes, I've overslept a whole release, and I feel fascinatingly relaxed after that), the problem persists.

Mouse cursor problems in Windows DomU after installing ATI-driver fglrx to X11
Hallo, I run Xen 3.0.4.1 on Ubuntu 6.06 with Gnome desktop. I can start Windows as DomU without problems, everything works fine (w2k server32 bit or w2k3 server 64 bit). Because I use the notebook HP nx9420 which has a wide screen, I installed into X11 the driver fglrx which supports the given resolution mode 1680x1050. Now, with the new driver The Gnome

Best fglrx (ati) driver for wine?
A call for those ati-experimented wine gamers, which version would be the best for wine? I'm currently using ubuntu 10.10 default for them (catalyst 10.10 too), but perfomance is so low...I know ATI is not in love with wine, but at least I want to test the best posibility out there. My card is a hd 5470 mobility, help is appreciated.

Blank screen while loading AMD/ATI graphics driver (fglrx) in Dom0 (Linux 3.0/3.2) with Xen 4.1/4.2
Hi, I had posted the following issue a few days ago in Xen-users but I haven''t received any answer yet. So I decided to re-post it here in hope for some solution. Here''s the original post: Xen wiki states that using linux 3.0 and above as dom0 works with all graphics cards. [PATCH] Compiz with Fglrx without Xgl (an hack for use-copy)
As posted few days ago by Vladimir, newer fglrx ATi proprietary drivers supports the Composite extension (also if it provides buggy rendering for some apps), that's why using the non-tftp rendering you could run Compiz in fglrx drivers too without loading Xgl. However the use-copy option makes compiz do some checks that the fglrx drivers don't pass (I don't know why, since the

Compiz with --use-copy --force-fglrx
Hi, I was happy to see the "use copy" and "force fglrx" patches, thanks to them I was able to get compiz running om my Thinkpad R60 (that has a Mobile Radeon X1400 card). However I can see some drawing garbage on the screen sometimes. The easiest way to reproduce it is to open firefox and point it to http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/compiz/2007-July/thread.html Then grab

Problems with compiz, fglrx, and City of Heroes
I just upgraded my video card from an 8800GT to a Radeon HD 5770. I've got the proprietary 'fglrx' driver installed. I am using Compiz/Emerald as my window manager and compositor, with the desktop cube enabled. When I launch City of Heroes full-screen and then try to rotate the cube via hotkey the cube rotates to a new face and immediately repaints City of Heroes over the top of it.

R and fluxbox: 100% CPU usage
Hi, In July I reported a problem I was having with R and the fluxbox windows manager (with Linux). The interaction of R and fluxbox causes CPU to go to 100% when trying to create even a simple plot. It is the R process that is at 100%. R with any other window manager was fine, and all other applications (that I use) seem to run okay in fluxbox. I have updated both R (2.0.0) and fluxbox (0.9.10)

fluxbox, ess and redrawing r windows
Hi, I'm running Lenny with Fluxbox, interacting with R via Emacs + ESS. An ongoing aggravation with this setup is trying to get R graphics windows redrawn. For example, I may have 8 or 10 R graphics windows open, and I switch between them using Alt-tab. The problem is, sometimes the windows remain blank. Sometimes I can get the display back by moving the window with the mouse, or switching

wine + fglrx + DRI causes total system lock up
Hi all, Here is a strange problem. I have recently installed the latest ATI fglrx driver (version 9.3). Everything appears to be fine, except glxgears only works for the root user. It turns out I was missing the DRI section in my xorg.conf. Once I added it I can run glxgears with no problem. But now I notice my wine games always crashes the computer (black screen with total lock up, needed to

testing parallel slopes assumption for Ordinal Logistic Regression
Hi everyone, I'm a bit new here (and new to R), and I was trying to do an OLR, and testing the parallel slope assumption seems be very important. I browsed through past postings, and didn't find much to help me in this area. I was wondering if anyone knew how I could go about doing this. Thank you. -- View this message in context:

FGLRX using Aiglx??
Hi! AFAIK FGLRX doesnt support glx_ext_texture_from_pixmap, and enabling composite+dri is resulting in screen corruption even with 8.38.6. Then how are you guys running it without XGL? Dom0 and fglrx
Hi, I have some problems getting fglrx working under a Dom0 system. My system is a Suse 10.1 x86_64 with kernel 2.6.16.21-0.21-smp. I installed fglrx 8.29.6. The CPU is a Pentium D with VT. The modules compile without problems and load without problems. But when I try to start X, the system freezes. Any help? Wouter _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

[feature request] fglrx without Xgl works with copy method in beryl
Latest amd/ati drivers (8.37|8.38) supports composite with dri. So, after patching beryl (cause he can work without tfp) to make it use direct rendering on "aiglx method" and removed check for GLX_SGIX_fbconfig, which fails. - I was able to run beryl on fglrx WITHOUT Xgl. Only bug with windows drawing exists(as noticed in latest known issues for ati drives), more about this bug -

Fglrx problem with HL-based applications in Wine
I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 with a AMD Radeon HD 6xxxM series graphiccard. Recently I've had some serious problems with running Half Life-based applications in Wine which all used to work fine. Those include Counter-Strike 1.6 and Day of Defeat for now. I'm using Steam to play those games. After a while in a multiplayer game the whole xorg crashes, I can't do anything and have to
