jQuery Users...
Any jQuery users out there? I would like to learn more about
incorporating jQuery with Rails as the performance seems to be the
best of any library I''ve seen and it is great in separating the
JScript from the HTML. Any suggestions on where to get started? I''ve
read this (http://b.lesseverything.com/2006/12/31/making-jquery-and-
prototype-play-nice-in-rails) but was looking into

A simple javascript alert not working
If I have a file in view /test called index.js.erb and in it a simple
alert("hello") shouldn''t that run when I go to /test/index? It doesn''t.

Ajax and rails 3 UJS (jquery)
Hi, guys,
I''m in the midst of moving an app from rails 2.3.8 to rails 3.0.9.
Sadly, rails 3 no longer has javascript generators and I''m now forced
to do more javascript.
For my project, I have selected jQuery as the javascript framework for
my rails 3.0.9 app.
What I have done to have my app''s deletion link (for each item)
trigger an alert box when the deletion

Sys.readlink (on BSD vs Linux)
Hello,
sorry for not being clear enough.
My problem is represented with the following code, running on OSX:
mkdir ~/test
ln -s ~/test ~/testlink
touch ~/test/foo
Rscript -e 'Sys.readlink(c("~/test/foo", "~/testlink/foo")); normalizePath(c("~/test/foo","~/testlink/foo"))'
I expected `Sys.readlink` to show the same output as `normalizePath`.

JQuery-rails gem spec removal
Hi there,
I don''t know if this is the right place to discuss such a topic. I''ve suggested to remove jquery-rails spec folder, since it hasn''t got any tests, they are not adapted to RSpec2 and not even to latest rails. They are one year old and it contains only one empty test.
I have an application that runs all tests on all engines, being jquery-rails one of them. I

jquery and ajax query in rails 3
hi people
I don''t know much about ajax - jquery. And right now I need to use
some functionality with them.
In a form (sales model) I have the following code:
<div>
<%= f.label :product_id, "Product" %>
<%= f.collection_select( :product_id, Product.all, :id, :name,
options={} ) %>
</div>
<div>
<%= f.label :price,

respond_with javascript
My ajax stopped working when I switched to using respond_with. For my
Votes, I have the create action and the corresponding create.js.erb,
and respond_to :html, :js, :xml in the controller. Heres the log when
I try and create a vote:

Sys.readlink (on BSD vs Linux)
Hello together,
the function `Sys.readlink` uses the system's readlink command to resolve symlink paths. On OSX/BSD the command has a different meaning than on Linux [1].
There exists the tool 'realpath', which seems suitable for the task, at least applied at the command line level [2]. It is used in `normalizePath`.
I suggest (at least the latter) to
* use realpath instead readlink

prototype/script.aculo.us ecosystem
Recently errtheblog (http://errtheblog.com/) put up a nice post about
jQuery. Putting aside all the assertions about cleaner code and fewer
lines of code than with Prototype, the one thing that struck me from
his (and others'') writing and from direct inspection is this: jQuery
seems to have a more of an ecosystem surrounding it. That is, more
plugins, widgets, locked-and-loaded

trouble using jQuery in Rails 3.0.7
I''ve tried to install JQuery a couple of times now, and I''ve followed
the steps for Rails UJS mentioned here:
https://github.com/rails/jquery-ujs
The last time I went ahead and added jQuery UI as well:
$ rails generate jquery:install --ui
remove public/javascripts/prototype.js
remove public/javascripts/effects.js
remove public/javascripts/dragdrop.js

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] Support asm comment output
Here's the first of several patches to get comments into asm output. This one
adds comment information to MachineInstructions and outputs it in the
generated AsmPrinters. This includes TableGen work to trigger the comment
output in the right places.
Please review and comment.

Headache with Ajax in Rails using jQuery
Hello everyone, I''m a newbie at Ruby on Rails. I spent nearly two days
of the Memorial Day weekend stumbling upon making Ajax working in Rails.
At this point, I''m so exhausted and hope that I can get some help to
move forward. I have tried nearly everything I found on Google but
still not successful. Initially, I tried the Ajax approach offered by
Rails but did not work, so I

Best practice on Javascript and rails
Hi, I get constantly nervy whenever trying to implement any javascript /
jquery in rails, basically because I''m not sure where to put things in
the project!
I know the people at rails have thought long and hard about how to best
structure an app, so I''d like to learn the correct way.
I''m using rails 3.2, ruby 1.9.3

couldn't find file 'jquery' rails 3.1 stable mountable engine
When I create a new engine in Rails 3.1 stable and then access the dummy
app or the engine I get an error say that the app can''t find jquery.
I''ve created the engine using
rails plugin new coffee --mountable
I''ve also created a basic controller in the engine and the dummy app. If
I remove the javascript include tag, everything works. But with the tag

document "expando" properties broken in Konqueror
I noticed that some of my event handlers and scripts evaluated in ajax
responses didn''t work in Konqueror (3.5.5).
document.getElementsByClassName is not defined in these contexts.
I can work around this, by saving document.getElementsByClassName in a
(namespaced) global variable once and reassigning it before each use.
Still, this misfeature is annoying and not restricted to this

Rails App permissions?
I can''t start my app and I suspect permissions and ownership. What
permissions should a Rails App have? Can I set 755 on everything or
should it be less on some files?
