nosql (it was mogilefs)
Yes, I?ve read these doc. I was just considering if someone had any experience with Mogile in email environment. Well, actually I?m trying to figure out if one of those nosql systems can store and scale email systems (ie, mailboxes - instead of maildir). I know mysql is always quoted as an option and discussed sometimes in the list. I think it?s an unnecessary overhead and bottleneck. As

MogileFS handler
Hello, I''ve been using NFS for sharing files across a cluster of servers but I''ve had a lot of problems with that. I''m planning to move to MogileFS which seems to be more stable and more adapted to this usage (lots of user uploaded files). I wonder if someone has already worked on an integration of MogileFS into Mongrel (and Rails app) for serving the files ? If not, I

POP - preventing re-download with server move
Hi, Curious if anyone has any good suggestions to handle this. I try to get my hosting users to use IMAP but most use Outhouse and the IMAP support is somewhat annoying for many so I typically have them change their settings when using POP to leave copies on the server. That way when they get the inevitable virus or wanna use webmail they have a backup copy and webmail sees their saved mail.

tun with darwin/macos x
hi, the following patch adds ssh tun support for Darwin/MacOS X (layer 2+3). I tested it with Darwin 8.0.1 x86 and MacOS X 10.4 Tiger PPC, I would like to see any tests from MacOS X users. It requires an external tun/tap driver, see below. reyk --- README.platform.orig 2006-02-13 20:22:04.000000000 -0800 +++ README.platform 2006-02-13 20:21:45.000000000 -0800 @@ -30,6 +30,18 @@ gcc,

Cannot open Cloud Nine after installing
This isn't a situation where the game is incompatible with Wine, so I'm going to cry about it. On the main website you can't get the downloader for the client unless you're using internet explorer. Easy enough, I can just get the "User Agent Switcher 0.7.2" and trick the site easily into thinking I'm using Internet Explorer - Got the downloader. Now I have to open it

OT: Data mining on demand .Using cloud computers.
Dear Lists, There are many softwares (with many passionate adherents). Some of them are very good upto say 2 million rows but lose steam after that despite having very good focus in innovating algorithms. Some of them are very good on same PC for much more data but become comfortable with the copyrights to innovate on algorithms. I am taing the risk of proposing the Ohri framework for creating R

This is a test of Nixnet blocking
Most of the time since last Thursday or so, that piece of crap called Nixnet (ix.manitu) has been blocking my hosting provider's mailservers. I did ask, when I talked to support last week, and they host *millions* of domains. They do not have a million techs (neither does google - but I'm *sure* none of you have ever gotten spam from google mail, right?). Again, I'll give my argument

Cluster Design
Hello everyone! My apologies if this appears twice... I had trouble getting it through earlier. A collegue and I are beginning development on a site that will eventually need to very scalable (assuming our business model is a good idea). My problem is that I''m not a sysadmin guru, and I''m not terribly comfortable with the design of the hosting platform. We''re going to

Scalability of Dovecot in the Cloud
Does anyone have any idea of how many IMAP connections a single cloud VM (4 vCores at 2.4GHz, 30GB RAM, local SSD storage - non-RAID) can be expected to handle in production. The mailboxes are fairly small (average 5MB total - 50MB max, as I don?t store attachments in Dovecot expect those saved through IMAP in the Sent/Drafts folders) and each user will probably have an average of 2 devices that
