dtrace (1M) manpage/ docs seem incorrect re 32/64 bit
The dtrace(1M) manpage seems to be incorrect, it states: -32 | -64 The D compiler produces programs using the native data model of the operating system kernel. You can use the isainfo -b command to determine the current operating system data model. If the -32 option is specified, dtrace forces the D compiler to compile a D

ruby 1.8.7p249 + rails 2.3.5 + Snow Leopard = hung processes?
A few weeks ago I updated my development computer to Snow Leopard (finally). I put it off because I was in the middle of a project, and it seems its a good thing I did. Last week I started something new and it seems that any rails related ruby process will get ... stuck, I guess is the best word. I''ve seen it happen as soon as a minute, or take as long as an hour. It happens for

[LLVMdev] -m32 gives me mixture of 32- and 64-bit code
Hi all, after reading and learning much more about GNU's configure and compile machine than I ever wanted ;-), I arrived at configuring llvm-2.2 like this: CFLAGS=-m32 CXXFLAGS=-m32 ./configure --prefix=$HOME The assembler errors are finally gone (phew!, and thanks for all the help!), but I get linker errors now: llvm[3]: Linking Release Object Library LLVMX86.o llvm[3]: Compiling

Moving to ROR 2.0.2
Looking for any gotchas: Currently running ROR 1.2.3 want to move to 2.0.2. I see the recommendation to move to 1.2.6 fix the deprecations and then to 2.0.2, which I plan to do. I am currently running lightty with SCGI (zed shaw''s version 1.7) on both win and UNIX platforms without issue. I have looked at the new features and can iron all that out: - pagination as plug - adapters as

rbx gem
Hello. Some time ago I committed a Rubinius assembly-based HTTP parser generated from Ragel to the Rubinius git repository. Yesterday I made a Mongrel gem which installs and works on Rubinius. This basically involved commenting out anything to do with fastthread or the http11 C extension. If there''s interest in releasing a Rubinius-targeted gem, I can make changes to the Rakefile to

Hi, I cannot get mongrel working on i686 debian sarge, whereas it works quite well on another ppc box under debian unstable. Instead I can use scgi_rails or webbrick without any problem. Lightty idle-timeout - does it work?
Rails 1.0 on RedHat with MySQL It seems that my app stops functioning overnight [actually I am assuming that it is after a period of inactivity]. Googling around for solutions, it seems that it might be an issue with timeouts on the MySQL session. A suggestion I found was to a) increase timeout on MySQL [don''t want to do that]; b) add idle-timeout parameter to Lightty. So I

Installing on OS X
Hi, I''ve just installed Mongrel 3.12.4 on OS X, and had one little difficulty: I kept getting an error message saying that HTTPHandler didn''t exist, maybe it was Mongrel, I don''t remember. Turns out that there was a lot more missing than that, so it doesn''t really matter. What was happening is that http11 was not installing and the "require
