smartd.conf get overridden
Yohoo!
I have some issues with the smartd in CentOS5/x64
I edited the /etc/smartd.conf for my needs and restarted the smartd with
"service smartd restart". But the start script is overriding my file. I
checked it and saw the following lines:
---------------/etc/init.d/smartd------------
case "$1" in
start | reload | restart)
GEN_CONF="*SMARTD*AUTOGENERATED*"

rsync bug with --relative and --delete fixed in CentOS5?
Yohoo!
I'm using rsnapshot-1.3.0-1.el5.rf (from DAG) and rsync-2.6.9-1.el5.rf (from
CentOS5) together.
Rsnapshot now starts every task with the "--relative" switch. Without this
switch it will backup all subsequent folders (like /proc and so on) which
isn't desired. So I can't omit the "--relative".
But there was a bug for rsync prior to 2.6.9 that it won't

CentOS5 and ipw2200
Hi all!
I tried to use CentOS5 on an IBM Thinkpad R52 which has an Intel PRO/Wireless
2915ABG Mini-PCI Adapter installed.
I downloaded the firmware from the DAG-Repo (afaik 3.0.0) and added a "alias
eth1 ipw2200" to modules.conf. After the module was loaded successfully
(including the firmware) I was able to configure the card.
For simplicity I didn't use any encryption. My

New machine dying on boot.... - CPU 0 not enough memory for domain -
I am playing with a new machine I just got in and it is dying on boot...
I'm wondering if it is to much machine for Centos to run..
It is a Generic machine using a Tyan Thunder motherboard running (8)
eight dual core AMD 855 cpu's with 128 gig of ram, not 128 meg, but 128
gig of ram. (2) SCSI 146 Seagate Drives. ATI Graphics built onto the board.

First steps with RSpec on Rails

If anyone is interested, these are my first tiny steps with RSpec on Rails:

Vmware Server on Centos 5.1
Hi all,
I am running some Centos 5.0 x86_64 servers as host os for vmware server
1.0.3 on both Opteron and Xeon systems. They are all running fine and
stable. But now I am in doubt to upgrade to 5.1.
Has any one done that yet, upgraded his vmware hosts with Centos/RHEL
5.0 to 5.1 ?
tia + best regards,
matthias

[nbdkit PATCH 2/2] server: Cork around grouped transmission send()s
As mentioned in the previous patch, sending small packets as soon as
possible leads to network packet overhead. Grouping related writes
under corking appears to help everything but unencrypted Unix plain
sockets. I tested with appropriate combinations from:
$ nbdkit {-p 10810,-U -} \
{--tls=require --tls-verify-peer --tls-psk=./keys.psk,} memory size=64m \
--run

"Possible intruder" warning
Hello,
I'm using tinc for a few years now and that this is my first post to this list
tells a lot about the quality of tinc, I think. It's just great, thanks a lot
for your fine work!
Recently I've discovered these messages in my syslog:

[nbdkit PATCH 1/2] server: Add support for corking
Any time we reply to NBD_CMD_READ or NBD_CMD_BLOCK_STATUS, we end up
calling conn->send() more than once. Now that we've disabled Nagle's
algorithm, this implies that we try harder to send the small header
immediately, rather than batching it with the rest of the payload,
which causes more overhead in the amount of actual network traffic.
For interfaces that support corking (gnutls, or

[PATCH] drm/nouveau: Add DRM_NOUVEAU_DEBUG option
From: Matt Parnell <mparnell at gmail.com>
Sometimes we have DEBUG_FS enabled, but don't want output from certain modules.
Most modules make this an option, so I figured that Nouveau needed it too.

[PATCH] Add an option for Nouveau debugfs output that depends on DEBUG_FS and update help entry for Nouveau KMS
From: Matt Parnell <parwok at gmail.com>
drm/nouveau: Add DRM_NOUVEAU_DEBUG option
Sometimes we have DEBUG_FS enabled, but don't want output from certain modules.
Most modules make this an option, so I figured that Nouveau needed it too. I also
made it exlicit that CONSOLE_FRAMEBUFFER is needed for textmode use with KMS.

Nagle is inherently unsuited for streams. NODELAY was (imho) ment for
connections for which Nagle isn't sufficient and CORK is not

Monitor-join not joining files in the queues.conf file
Hi everyone
Has anybody ever come across this, I want it to join automatically the
recording files for me but it creates the wav files as I expect but it
doesn't join them sadly, so eg:
ls
1250623104.10-in.wav 1250628672.23-in.wav 1250630411.30-in.wav
1250623104.10-out.wav 1250628672.23-out.wav 1250630411.30-out.wav
Here is my queues.conf snippet

authenticating to AD with winbind
Yohoo!
We want to authenticate our Cisco admins to freeradius. This should authenticate to our running AD (W2003Srv).
Googling for freeradius and AD tells me to use ntlm_auth. For ntlm_auth I need a running winbindd. And kerberos.
And there's my problem.
Status:
I configured the /etc/krb5.conf
"kinit admin@MY.DOMAIN" asks for the password and gives me a ticket for one week.
