When I add a user if it already exists I get a complaint that user exists. If I add a new user from GUI it does not get added to the blank list. OK I just added a user from gui, applied it [HIT OK] went

How do I get system to boot off second or third drive so that I can replace /sda? I've successfully replaced /sdb & sdc raid 5 drives in the past but have always struggled to get primary

image files or partions
Hello, I''ve installed xen3 and asked myself whats better, image files or partions? I will prefer image files because of the flexible handling, but I''ve heard that real partions are faster. Thanks a lot for any hints? Daniel _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Need util to resize parition (Off Topic)
Hi all, Sorry to post OT but I'm a bit stuck and I thought someone may know the answer. Originally I installed Red Hat 5.2 with 2 paritions, boot and root. I upgraded to Red Hat 6 (kept the original filesystem) without a problem some time ago, but now I want to upgrade to 7.2. When trying to install the upgrade it tells me that the boot parition isnt big enough (by about 90k!) so I thought

Best method for booting logical partions via syslinux...
Hi. Which is the preferable method for booting multiple logical partions via syslinux ? 1. Create seperate logical (fat 32) partitons for 'each' Live CD, extracted and prepared identically via syslinux/syslinux.cfg (sdc5, sdc6,sdc7 etc.) 2. Use Grub2 to attempt to boot seperate logical partitions with the same extracted Live CD plan as above. 3. Use the chain.c32 module that

But I cannot mount the logical ones: mount -t ext3 /dev/hdc5 /mnt mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on

Trying to upgrade domU to squeeze
Hello, Not sure this is the right place to ask Xen user-questions. I am running Lenny and try to upgrade a domU to Squeeze. After the installation of a new xen-kernel in the domU and upgrading udev I did a reboot but then the kernel does not find the root anymore, and it's dropping me to a shell. When I look into /dev/ I don't see any disks or partions. Is here somebody who can help me

DVR recorder how to resucue files
It looks like you've backuped an entire disk that might contain partitions. So first check if you have partitions inside: sudo fdisk -lu save.dd If you have partitions inside, use the start offset of the partition to create a loopback device (e.g. a partition starts at 56): sudo losetup -o $((56*512)) /dev/loop0 save.dd Now you should be able to use the partition. First check and than

The hot spare is not activating automatically. Is there something more i should have done to make this work ? pool: rpool state: DEGRADED status: One or more devices could not be opened.
