I have seen others have run into this issue, but to resolve it just

Ferret in ruby1.9
Hi all,
I''m brand new to this ml so pardon my rudeness. I''m currently trying to do
some tests with ruby pre-1.9 to see how cool it is. Unfortunately, due to
changes in the internal ruby API, the ferret extension no longer compiles so
i''m simply unable to use it. I know this will add some more burden to the
developers, but I wondered if this could be interesting to have

Problem with non-ascii characters in forms: "incompatible character encodings: UTF-8 and ASCII-8BIT"
Hi
First off, I''m using Ruby 1.9.1p378 and Rails 2.3.8.
I was creating a minimal application to test handling of Norwegian special
characters when I bumped into this strange problem...
I have a simple Car model with fields maker:string and model:string.
For the controller I planned to just have an index action do all the work:
class CarsController < ApplicationController
def index

Can you add an option to select the ruby interpreter for rake task?
Hi all,
My problem is that I''ve installed both ruby 1.8 (as ruby) and
ruby 1.9 (as ruby1.9) on my system. I use spec/rake/spectask for
my Rakefile. But the generated command is
ruby -I.. blabla
it should be "ruby1.9 -I... blabla", but after look at the code
of spectask.rb, I found this line:
==> cmd = "ruby "
rb_opts = ruby_opts.clone

hi all,
platform: debian lenny, ruby1.91.p0, passenger/apache-multithread,
rails2.3 in vendor/postres and sql server via odbc. all current gems.
i have legacy asp content on win2k servers that i wrap in rails
controllers. this all worked great with ruby1.8, but now that we are
dealing with encoded strings in ruby1.9, i am having page crashes
randomly as users have cut and pasted high ascii code

Trouble developing Rails plugins/gems with generators
Hi,
I''ve been trying to develop a Rails gem/plugin with generators for
Rails 3. I first had a separate gem project with a gem statement in my
Gemfile with a :path option to point at it. But then I had to run $
rake install on each change in my gem to have Rails pick up on it. I
have now instead put my generators inside RAILS_ROOT/lib so they are
easier to test/develop.

Rails Edge: gem bundle error
Hi.
Having installed Ruby 1.9 from source, I decided to have a look at
Rails3 aka Rails edge from git. Therefore, I followed wycats
instructions (http://weblog.rubyonrails.org/2010/1/1/getting-a-new-app-
running-on-edge), but keep getting an error related to Bundler:
$ sudo gem bundle --backtrace

FxRuby1.6.23 on OpenBSD-Unix
Hello,
I tried some simple programs on OpenBSD 5.0-Unix with Ruby1.9. It works
fine. Many thanks to Lars for fixing "segfault".
I hope I will find some time to test it on Linux by the end of this week.

Rails can't find it's gems
Hi,
yesterday I attempted to test my Rails app with Ruby 1.9. I installed
all necessary gems, saw that some of them aren''t compatible with 1.9 and
switched back to 1.8. Now my app still thinks it has to go with 1.9 and
shows the following error message when I try to test it.

compiling on snow leopard: Cocoa errors?!?!?!
Dear R-gurus,
I'm trying to compile R on my new mac. It's snow leopard. So far I've seemed to be doing pretty well. I've looked at
http://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx/tools/
http://r.research.att.com/exp/
http://r.research.att.com/building.html
http://r.research.att.com/tools/
All of which have been very helpful. Looking at the threads I've got around some X11 issues

Using Rails 3 edge to circumvent current_period bug?
I get an error using Rails 3 beta3 on Ruby 1.9.2-preview1
undefined method `current_period'' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError)
This commit should fix it
http://github.com/rails/rails/commit/a0cc94b32e5b4e4dce50787eed1208406f99ea82
But I forgot how to ensure I am running on edge with Rails 3.
Is it a special bundler command I need to use?
Thanks!
