[OT] How to get a deal for INTL speakers?
This is pretty far off topic, but seeing as though it directly affects the
upcoming Canada on Rails (http://canadaonrails.com) conference in April, I
figure it kind of applies to Rails :)
I need to find the best place to get discount tickets for the international
speakers coming from Europe, and figure you guys would know where the best
places are to get deals.
I have checked klm.com, and

No sound in Steam with Bose USB speakers
Hi all,
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 with wine 1.2.2 and have a set of Bose Companion 5 USB speakers connected to my system. The speakers work fine in Ubuntu in every way, except for wine. In WineCFG the audio is configured to use ALSA, but the "Test Sound" always fails no matter what I set it to. I've read this is a known problem, so not a big deal. However, when playing Portal or

[OT] Call for speakers: BOB 2.0
Friends,
In April, I'm organizing a conference here in Sweden about the new IP
Communications platform - SIP, Instant messaging, audio, video, text.
Open Standards, Open Source. Asterisk is part of a new platform that
we're building. The new version, 1.4, integrates with Jabber and
there's a lot of good examples on new applications that integrate
Asterisk with FaceBook,

multiple microphones and multiple speakers spport
Hi,
I integrated the speex aec 1.2rc1 into android audio subsystem. Aec is working fine.
But in the case of multiple microphones(2) and multiple speakers (2) case, it is not working properly.
I think speex_preprocess_run() is not implemented for multiple speakers and multiple microphones.
And speex_echo_cancellation() function also not fully implemented for mutiple channels.
Can you please

R (unix) command line editing for native speakers of vi
As an inveterate user of vi, I was pleased to stumble on how
to use it for editing R commands.
When an interactive R session is launched under unix, the
command line editor most likely defaults to emacs. Typing
<esc>,<ctrl>+j will switch this to vi editing mode (see below
for possible exceptions).
excerpted from readline(3) manpage:

question on connecting speakers
Is there an ATA type device out there that has low level audio out for
connecting speakers?
My asterisk server is in one building, I wish to have speakers in
another building
and connect them up to a low level audio device that I can call into and
speak.
Can I connect speakers into the FXS or FXO of a grandstream HT 503? Does
that work?
I'd prefer not to have a PC setting there (sound
