Correctly setting up sound with Intel High Definition ICH7
Hi, Earlier this day I started a thread about Skype not working with outgoing sound. Now I wonder if it's not a problem with my soundcard. I had a vague suspicion about this, but since it's way off the original topic, I decided to start a new thread about this. Here's what the soundcard looks like: [root at grossebertha etc]# lspci | grep -i audio 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel

IVT SCD serial port help
guys, A bit off topic here, but since this issue already has a history here: serial connection to the SCD, the never ending story ... - the intel D945GSEJT mainboard (ICH7) has two serial ports with onboard connectors which require a ribon cable to the external DB9 connectors in the case. I tested 5 cables, but none works. whereas I'm not sure if it is a cable problem. this is what dmesg

The card I used is from StarTech (http://www.startech.com/Product/ItemDetail.aspx? productid=PCI2S550&c=US). When it is detected by kudzu, it shows up as a "NetMos Technologies PCI 9835 Multi I/O Controller". I've included the output of

How do I configure additional serial ports?
I have installed two 4-port serial cards (http://www.startech.com/ Product/ItemDetail.aspx?productid=PCI4S550&c=US) on a CentOS 4.4 system. The hardware appears to be recognized correctly, as kudzu added 2 entries to /etc/sysconfig/hwconf and lscpi shows both cards (output of lspci -vv for both cards included at the end of this email): # lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation

Unable to boot xen dom0 on IBM System x3250
I have an IBM System x 3250 that successfully boots using the standard kernel (2.6.18-8.1.10.el5) but fails to boot with the xen kernel. The kernel appears to fail when it attempts to initialize the driver for the onboard SAS controller (LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS1064E PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS). Can anyone provide any advice? Here's the relevant info. Please let me know if any other

wpi driver freeze on boot
I've got a HP dv8000 laptop. Setting up the wpi driver for wireless freezes the system on boot with the following error: wpi0 requested unsupported memory range wpi0: could not allocate memory resource It lists a pcbi device (pcbi4 i think) and an actual memory range, but since I have to reboot using kernel.old the /var/run/dmesg.boot is wiped with the info. Is there anyway to grab the

TDM400P periodic sound clicks on FXS
Hi, I am having periodic sound clicks (2-3 per second) on all FXS of a TDM400P when the remote end is my VoIP provider. However: - recording the conversation on the asterisk, does not have the glitches, although I can hear them on a real phone. - My VoIP provider to my VoIP phones through the same asterisk is OK. - TDM to TDM through the same asterisk is OK. 2.6.30.1 dom0 Xen patches
I''ve been trying for several days to get a xen dom0 booting as described on Boris Derzhavets blog. I have been able to boot Jeremy Fitzhardinge''s pv_ops kernel under xen, but my X server wouldn''t start so I''ve been trying to get Andrew Lyon''s rebased opensuse patches to work. I have asked for help in the freenode ##xen channel but they

PCI passthrough working on Xen 3!
Thanks to the kind person(s) who worked on this. I am using PCI passthrough right now and it works. I hope support is added for VT domains too; That would be extremely useful. So far I have tried a NIC, USB, and PCI Video. The NIC works flawlessly. USB works as long as the devices are present at the time the domain is started. Hotplugging USB devices seems not to work. If I open

MB soundcards and PCI soundcards
this is almost certainly a driver or device mapping issue. the answer depends on whether you use alsa or oss. if you're using oss: use alsa :) if you're using alsa: are both cards correctly installed? what does aplay -l say? what does lsmod | grep snd say? have you specified the correct device to use? depending on your installation, the onboard sound chip might be set to be the default

Soundcard detection failing
Hello all! I'm as new to these forums as I am to Linux, so please bear with me if I fail some of the etiquette! I'm running an Ubuntu 9.04 distribution. Sound has so far worked wonderfully in Ubuntu proper (playing music in Movie Player [current default] and through Firefox [Pandora] causes two streams to play; I don't seem to have issues with mixing!) PROBLEM: Ventrilo under Wine

Sound stopped working from internal speaker in CentOS 7.2 (intel-hda) and is still broken.
This message is long overdue. I've commented on similar issues when other people have mentioned similar items, but I am finally taking the time to to ask this question. Did anyone else have the sound from their internal speaker stop working with the release of CentOS 7.2? I have tested this with multiple machines with the same card and the same issue. The card is identified as: !!PCI

Hello, When I was running CentOS 5.2 (and other Liuux distribution) on an Asus W2J laptop, I never get sound. I upgraded to CentOS 5.3. Now the sound card is recognized and plays the test sounds. I checked channels with alsamixer, mix, kamix .... I still have no sound using aplay alsa command or whatever else audio display. Trying to check my configuration I discovered that the snd-hda-codec.ko
